Minutes of October 17, 2002
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Committee met on October 17, 2002 at 7pm in the Second Floor Lobby
Conference Room at Town Center, 255 Parkway Boulevard, Coppell, Texas. The following members were
present; Lisa Cunov, John Dobson, ,Julia Petty, Judi Smith, Steven Smith, John Valentine. City Liaison:
Amanda Vanhoozier. Not Present: Rene Lawson
Item 1: Call to Order - Julia Petty called the meeting to order at 7:03pm
Item 2:
Election of Chairperson and Co-Chair for 2002-2003-
The committee nominated Steve Smith, Julia Petty and JohnValentine.
Julia Petty was elected as Chairperson. John Dobson, Steve Smith, and
John Valentine were nominated for Co-Chair and John Valentine was
elected.
Item 3:
Swearing in of Rene Lawson by Newly elected Chairperson The
committee did not take action due to Lawson's absence. Item asked to be
placed on November meetings agenda.
Item 4:
Approval of Minutes from June 20, 2002. The Committee approved the
minutes.
Item 5:
Citizen's Forum - No citizens were present.
Item 6:
Adopt-a-Location Status and Approval of New Groups- The following
groups were approved for Adopt-a-Location. CHS Silver Spurs- Coppell
Road between Plantation and Sandy Lake and Companion Pet Service-
Beltline Road between MacArthur and Fairway.
Item 7:
Wildflowers at the Trail Head at Moore Rd. -Follow-up Report by
Amanda- Fifteen different species ofwildflower seeds were dispersed
along the north side of the center pond at Andrew Brown East. About
hundred adults and youth helped with the planting on September 28, 2002.
Amanda reported that the flowers will grow through the winter months and
possibly bloom from March through July. It was a beautification project.
Item 8:
Keep Coppell Beautiful Committee Orientation- Amanda reviewed the
information in the orientation booklets and gave a history of the committee
and it's affiliations and purpose.
Item 9:
Evaluation of Yearly Work Plan and Recommendations for 02-03 The
committee discussed the work scope for the coming year in relation to the
Keep Texas Beautiful's questions asked of successful programs. The
committee gathered information about what has been done and what may
need to be done to achieve the Keep Coppell Beautiful mission statement.
The committee discussed developing an annual work plan and scope at the
November Meeting.
Item 10:
New Business - Items to be placed on the November 21, 2002 meeting
agenda: Keep Coppell Beautiful Logo, Forever Green-Holiday Tree
Recycling, Meeting in December, KTB quilt square, Annual Work Plan.
