OR 60 Adopts the National Electrical Code, 1968 Edition ORDINANCE NO. 60 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, ADOPTING THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1968 EDITION; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION ON THIS ORDINANCE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS THEREOF IN CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS: SECTION 1. TITLE: This ordinance shall be known as "The City of Coppell Electrical Code". SECTION 2. ADOPTION OF CODE: There is hereby adopted by the City of Coppell, Texas, that certain National Electrical Code, 1968 Edition, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof the same as if fully set out at length herein, and from the date on which this ordinance shall take effect the provisions thereor shall be controling within the City. SECTION 3. SPECIFIC A~ENDMENTS & MODIFICATIONS: The Code adopted hereby and attached hereto as Exhibit "A" is amended as follows: NONE SECTION 4. REPEALING CLAUSE: All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. Provided however, the repeal of existing laws by this ordinance shall not effect or prevent the prosecution or punishment of any person for or any act done or committed in violation of any ordinance hereby repealed prior to the effective date of this ordinance; and prosecution for such offense may be instituted and causes presently pending proceeded with in all respects as if such prior law or ordinance had not been repealed. SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE: If any article, paragraph or sub-division, clause, phrase or provision of this Ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of this Ordinance as a whole or any part or proviision thereof other than the part so decided to be invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 6. PENALTY CLAUSE: Any person, firm or corporation violating any Of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined not to exceed the sum of $200.00 for each offense and each and every day such offense is continued shall constitute a separate offense. Should any section of the Code adopted by this ordinance be in conflict with this penalty clause then this section shall be controlling. SECTION 7. SPECIAL tIANDLING OF OP~DINANCE: Due to the size of the Volume attached hereto as Exhibit "A" it is hereby directed that the original of this ordinance, with volume attached, be kept in a separate file in the office of the City Secretary, and that a duplicate original of this ordinance, with a photocopy of the title sheet of such volume attached thereto, be placed in the official Ordinance Book. SECTION 8. E~RGENCY CLAUSE: The fact that the present City regulations are inadequate to properly protect the public health, safety and welfare, creates an urgency and an emergency and requires that this Ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after the publication of its caption as the law in such cases provides. of Coppell, Texas, this 1970.
