RE 05-09-95.3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS RESOLUTION NO. 050995.3 WltEREAS, the City of Coppell is charged with the responsibility to provide fire protection and emergency medical services for the benefit of its citizens; and WltEREAS, these services to certain peripheral areas of the City of Coppell can best be provided by adjoining municipalities due to nearer proximity of equipment and personnel; and WHEREAS, such services to certain peripheral areas in adjoining municipalities can best be provided by the City of Coppell due to nearer proximity of equipment and personnel; and WltEREAS, such assistance is in the best interests and for the common good of both the City of Coppell and neighboring municipalities. NOW, TltEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City of Coppell that it respectfully requests and supports the following: Section 1. That the City Manager be and is hereby authorized, on behalf of the City of Coppell, to execute Agreements for Automatic Assistance between the City of Coppell and the cities of Addison, Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Flower Mound, Grapevine, Irving, Lewisville, and other such cities as deemed practical in the future. Section 2. That such agreements will provide, among other things, that in consideration for each party's automatic assistance to the other upon the occurrence of any emergency condition in any portion of the designated area where this Agreement for Automatic Assistance is in effect, a predetermined number of firefighting and/or emergency medical service equipment and personnel shall be dispatched, to such point where the emergency condition exists in order to assist in the protection of life and property. Section 3. Details as to amounts and types of assistance to be dispatched, methods of dispatching and communications, training programs and procedures and areas to be assisted will be developed by the Chief of the Coppell Fire Department and the Chief of other departments entering into automatic assistance agreements. These details will be stipulated in a Memorandum of Understanding and signed by the Chiefs of both departments. Said Memorandum of Understanding may be revised or amended at any time by mutual agreement of the Fire Chiefs as conditions may warrant. Section 4. That either the City of Coppell or other participating parties may terminate without cause any agreement with 90 days written notice of desire to terminate said agreement. Section 5. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its passage in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Coppell, and its accordingly so resolved. _../ DULY PASSED by the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas this 9 th day of May, 1995.
