BM 2004-10-20 EcDevCOPPELL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE October 20, 2004 MINUTES The Coppell Economic Development Committee met in a special called meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at Coppell Town Center, 2nd Floor Conference Room, 255 Parkway Boulevard, Coppell, Texas 75019. The following were present: Bill Rohloff, Gary Roden, Jason Crawford, Marvin Franklin, Larry Kingsbury, Bill Lowery, Ken Luttmer, Matt Hall, Jeanne Hooker, Councilmember Billy Faught, Councilmember Marsha Tunnell, Deputy City Manager Clay Phillips, and Andrea Roy. Call to Order Chairman Rohloff called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. Discussion regarding the compilation of an Economic Development Strategic Plan. City Staff distributed folders to all members containing background information on the major topics involving the Committee at this time- the Streamlined Sales Tax movement, Hot Spots, existing incentive programs, Old Coppell, and general community information. Matt Hall also distributed a summary of the results of a retail tenant survey that was conducted by the Chamber of Commerce. Deputy City Manager Clay Phillips provided feedback to the Committee relating to the Strategic Plan process. The Committee then began discussions on the need to establish a mission statement for the strategic plan. The following was determined: Mission Statement To facilitate the recruitment, retention, and expansion of business to maximize the tax base of Coppell consistent with the values of the community. Three top goals/categories were suggested- recruitment, retention/expansion, and Old Coppell. It is envisioned that many of the activities requested of the City Council fall under these three major headings. City Staff will take this information and provide wording and formatting suggestions for the next Committee Meeting on November 3, 2004. With no further business to discuss, it was moved by Larry Kingsbury and seconded by Ken Luttmer that the meeting adjourn.
