Call to Order
Chairman Rohloff called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.
Discussion regarding the compilation of an Economic Development Strategic Plan.
City Staff distributed folders to all members containing background information on the
major topics involving the Committee at this time- the Streamlined Sales Tax movement,
Hot Spots, existing incentive programs, Old Coppell, and general community information.
Matt Hall also distributed a summary of the results of a retail tenant survey that was
conducted by the Chamber of Commerce. Deputy City Manager Clay Phillips provided
feedback to the Committee relating to the Strategic Plan process. The Committee then
began discussions on the need to establish a mission statement for the strategic plan. The
following was determined:
Mission Statement
To facilitate the recruitment, retention, and expansion of business to maximize the tax
base of Coppell consistent with the values of the community.
Three top goals/categories were suggested- recruitment, retention/expansion, and Old
Coppell. It is envisioned that many of the activities requested of the City Council fall
under these three major headings. City Staff will take this information and provide
wording and formatting suggestions for the next Committee Meeting on November 3,
2004.
With no further business to discuss, it was moved by Larry Kingsbury and seconded by
Ken Luttmer that the meeting adjourn. By unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at
8:45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Andrea Roy
