A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, RECOMMENDING THAT THE
NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS' APPLICATIONS REVIEW
COMMITTEE REQUIRE MORE STUDY BE DONE BY THE DALLAS/FT. WORTH
AIRPORT BOARD BEFORE RECOMMENDING FAVORABLY ON A PERMANENT NOISE
MONITORING GRANT APPLICATION FOR D/FW AIRPORT
WHEREAS, the City of Coppell, a Dallas area city with no voting representation on the
D/FW International Airport Board, has the right and obligation to make its feelings
known regarding potential funding for Airport related projects; and
WHEREAS the D/FW International Airport Board has submitted a preapplication for
Federal Aviation Administration funds for a series of improvements at the Airport; and
WHEREAS the North Central Texas Council of Governments' Applications Review
Committee has received this preapplication, and has solicited comments from area
cities affected by these grant funds; and
WHEREAS these projects have a direct bearing on the liveability of the City of Coppell
and its citizens, particularly item number three in the grant application, Permanent
Noise Monitoring; and
WHEREAS this project will have long term affects upon the citizens of Coppell;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF COPPELL,
TEXAS, unanimously recommends that more information regarding the Noise
Monitoring Study be provided by the Airport Board before making a firm
recommendation addressing this subject's applicability to this community, specifically
involving locations of the 17 or more monitoring stations proposed; the number of
stations to be located within the corporate limits of Coppell; what the devices will
look like, their size, height, equipment at the stations, value of each station, time
period for construction, duration of location, among others; and if the stations will be
hardwired to the D/FW tower.
DULY PASSED by the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas on the 15th day of
December, 1992.
