Connie requested that Melanie LeMay and Morgan Griffin go through catalogs and
select graphics for Young Adult Area.
. Workload Indicators: The children's collection was shifted in its entirety making
more room for the beginning readers collection.
. Programming: Beginning March 21, the program room and the group study rooms
will be available to the public.
Beginning May 1, 2005, the library will remain open until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Closure is currently at 6:00 p.m. Total number of weekly hours to the public will be
63.
Connie reported that she and Kathy along with a member of IS staff visited the City of
Richardson and discussed WI-FI (Wireless Internet) installation at the library.
Installation looks promising. Kathy shared the following concerns with Rick Moore,
Coppell IS Director:
1
(1). if we implement, is there sufficient band width to support library operations?
(2). wireless access in the library must go through the Web Sense filter as council
has mandated that computers in the library be filtered and
(3). there must be clear delineation that support of the wireless network is an IS
function - library staff cannot debug problems or be expected to trouble
shoot privately-owned laptop microcomputers.
5. LIBRARY OPEN HOUSE: The library's Open House in Celebration of the Library's
Renovation Project and National Library Week will be Sunday, April 17, 2005, 2:00-
4:00 p.m. Other special events for the week include:
. Monday, April 11, 7:00 p.m. Dr. Betty Carter, bluebonnet Award Committee
Chairperson, DISD and our own public librarians, discuss the 2005 Bluebonnet
List.
. Tuesday, April 12, 7:00 p.m. Family Fun Night! Sandy Shrout and her puppet
friends re-tell the story of Goldilocks in a slightly fractured way.
. Thursday, April 14, 7:00 p.m. Got Books? Please join us as we share favorite
books with the community.
6. ADJOURNMENT: Saul Friedman moved and Melissa Hall seconded to adjourn at 7:43
