BM 2005-04-04 PBPARKS AND RECREATION/CRDC/TREE BOARD MINUTES OF MEETING April 4, 2005 Meeting Time: 6:30 p.m. Meeting Place: Coppell Road Service Center 816 S. Coppell Road Coppell, Texas 75019 Members Present: Staff Present: Stephen Hafer, Mark Tepper, David Castillo, Larry Jones, Bruce Akerly, Greg Garcia, and Mike Ridgley. Brad Reid, Guy McLain, Jane Anne Sellars, and Hilda Salazar Item 1: AGENDA Call the Meeting to Order - Mr. Stephen Hafer called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. Item 2: Citizen' s Forum - No citizens present wishing to speak. COPPELL RECREATION DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION Action Items: (Items requiring CRDC members' action, such as a motion or vote) Item 3: Consider approval of minutes from January 3, 2005. - Larry Jones moved to approve minutes from February 7, 2005. Mark Tepper seconded the motion. Vote: (4-0) approved. Item 4: Item 5: Consider approval of a revision to the CRDC Project Priority Listing to add a restroom and shelter at Wagon Wheel Park. - Mr. Mark Tepper moved to approve the revision to the CRDC Project Priority List. - Mr. David Castillo seconded the motion. - Vote: (5-0), approved Consider approval of a quote from Romtec for the supply and installation of a Restroom Building for Wagon Wheel Park, in the amount of $202,523.89, and authorizing the President of CRDC and the City Manager to sign. - Mr. Mark Tepper moved to approve the construction of a Restroom Building at Wagon Wheel Park. - Mr. Bruce Akerly seconded the motion. - Vote: (5-0), approved. PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD ITEMS Information Items: (Items requiring no action by Parks and Recreation Board) Item 6: Annual Report by the Coppell Youth Football Association - Mr. Robbie McCollough, President of the Association, provided the Board with the following information: - The 2004 Fall Season had: 250 players registered, 245 completed the season; 70 cheerleaders registered and completed season. Fees cover helmets, shoulder pads, pant pads, jerseys, and socks. Players return equipment and keep jerseys. Cheerleader's fees: $200. CYSA had private and public sponsors. Games were played Saturdays at Andrew Brown Central. Visiting teams from Southlake, Colleyville, Keller, and Grapevine played at our facility and also hosted away games. Football Coaches have attended Dallas Cowboys Coaches Clinic. All head Coaches are required to be certified in First Aid/CPR. Concession revenues average $300 per week. Item 7: Annual Report by the Coppell Girl Softball Association - Mr. Mike Ritch, President of the Association, provided the Board with the following information: Division # of Teams # of Participants 6U 6 48 8U 12 119 10U 13 128 12U 5 51 14U 5 48 TOTAL 42 404 - CGSA is currently considering sponsoring a youth slow pitch league. - Association requested permanent fences, restroom and concession facilities closer to fields, shade and dugout facilities, storage and scoring stations. Item 8: Teen Sub-Committee Report - Mr. David Castillo informed the Board that the application process is underway but they are slow coming in. Item 9: Item 10: *Note: Director' s Report · Special Events - Outdoor Adventure Kid: April 9-10 in Grapevine. - Arbor Day Celebration, April 29, 2 p.m., at the Aquatic and Recreation Center. · Project Update - Trail Amenities: currently working on design and construction documents. - Andrew Brown, Jr., Community Park West - Senior Center: money for design will be available this month. - Kid Country Playground: Mr. McLain showed the proposed structure from Game Time. Chair Report · Adopt-a-Location - Park Board date is April 9, 2005, 9 a.m, at Wagon Wheel Park. Future Agenda Items Coppell Lacrosse Mr. Greg Garcia moved to adjourn meeting. Mr. David Castillo seconded the motion. Vote: (5-0) approved.
