LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
April 14, 2005
The William T. Cozby Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session on Thursday, April
14,2005 in the boardroom at the William T. Cozby Public Library.
1. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chair, Thomas Trahan at 7:00
p.m. Other board members present were Pamela Bennett, Saul Friedman, Jennifer Jackson, Beth
Sparks, David Smith, Morgan Griffin and Melanie LeMay. Staff in attendance were Library
Director, Kathy Edwards, Assistant Library Director, Connie Moss and Administrative
Technician, Janet Lance.
2. READING AND APPROVAL OF BOARD MINUTES DATED MARCH 10,2005:
Saul Friedman moved to approve the minutes and Jennifer Jackson seconded the motion. All
were in favor and the minutes were approved.
3. CITIZENS' APPEARANCES: None
4. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
. Remodel Project Update: The service desks were reinstalled for the second time,
but unfortunately the shipment was damaged. The adult reference desktop will have to
be reinstalled yet a third time but is usable. Weare still awaiting the motors.
The library plans to purchase a study booth for the young adult area with the $300
credit received from Demco and the remainder with funds from the current fiscal year.
The library has submitted a budget request for FY 05/06 for a coffee machine to be
placed in the lobby. This service will not be implemented until approved in FY 05/06.
. Workload Indicators: Statistics continue to rise. Attendance at children's programs
continues to rise. The group study rooms are unlocked so that students can use
without asking to have unlocked.
. Programming: In celebration of Nation Library Week, the library hosted Dr. Betty
Carter, Bluebonnet Award Committee Chairperson, CISD and our own public
librarians, who discussed the 2005 Bluebonnet List. Sandy Shrout and her puppet
friends were here to re-tell the story of Goldilocks. Both programs were well
attended.

5. LIBRARY OPEN HOUSE: The library's Open House in Celebration of the Library's
Renovation Project and National Library Week will be Sunday, April 17, 2005, 2:00-
4:00 p.m.
6. ADJOURNMENT: Beth Sparks moved and Jennifer Jackson seconded to adjourn at
7:25 p.m. Carried.
