RE 08-13-91.4 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COPPEI2~, TEXAS RESOLUTION NO. 081391.4 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 460, WHICH ALLOWS THE DALLAS COUNTY COMMISSIONER'S COURT TO IMPOSE AN ADDITIONAL $1.50 FEE ON VEHICLES REGISTERED IN DALLAS COUNTY TO ASSIST COMMUNITIES IN FUNDING SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD PROGRAMS. WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the priority citizens of Dallas County place on the safety of their children walking to and from school; and WHEREAS, the State of Texas adopted as law on June 16, 1991, Senate Bill 460, which has been formulated to assist communities in funding school crossing guard programs; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 460 establishes that funds generated under this Act can be used to enhance child safety, health and nutrition, child abuse intervention and prevention, and drug/alcohol abuse prevention programs once school crossing guard funding has been provided; and WHEREAS, the City of Coppell recognizes the importance of having school, city, and county participation in school crossing guard programs; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 460 provides an opportunity for municipalities and the county to finance this important function; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OFT HE CITY OF COPP~I.L, TEXAS: Section 1. That the City of Coppell requests the Dallas County Commissioner's Court to impose an additional $1.50 fee on vehicles registered in Dallas County. Section 2. That the Dallas County Commissioner's Court impose this fee prior to September 30, 1991, allowing the City of Coppell to receive funding benefit during FY 1991-92.
