OR 96-765 City Tree Board appointed by City Council AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO. 96765 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 9-11-11B OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO PROVIDE THAT THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY TREE BOARD SHALL. BE APPOINTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. NOW, T!:IF~REFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY ~ CITY COUNCIL OF ~ CITY OF COPPEIJ~, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinance of the City of Coppelt, Texas, be, and the same is hereby amended in part, by amending Section 9-11-11B to read as follows: "Sec. 9-11-11 TREE ORDINANCE B. Creation and Establishment of a City Tree Board There is hereby created and established a City Tree Board consisting of five (5) members appointed by the City Council for a term of two (2) years; provided, however, in order to establish staggered terms of office, two (2) of the initial members shall be appointed for a one (1) year tenn. Thereafter, all appointments, except for an appointment to fill a vacancy which shall be filled for the unexpired term, shall be for two (2) year terms.~ SECTION 2. That the current mereben of the City Tree Board consisting of members of the Keep Coppell Beautiful Committee appointed by the City Council pursuant to Ordinance No. 95696 shall continue to serve on such Board until October 1, 1996, at which time such Board shall be abolished and replaced by the City Tree Board established herein. SECTION 3. ff any article, paragraph or subdivision, clause or provision of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of this ordinance SS267 as a whole or any part or provision thereof, other than the part so decided to be invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 4. That all provisions of ordinances of the City of Coppell, Texas, in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be, and the same are hereby, repealed, and all other provisions not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and aiter its passage, as the law and charter in such cases provide.
