RE 04-23-91.2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPP~J., T~XAS Resolution No. 042391.2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED LANDFILL APPLICATION #2139, AND EXPRESSING ITS DESIRE THAT THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH DENY SAID APPLICATION. WHEi~EAS, Mr. Huel H. Weaver, Jr., has submitted and filed an application for a landfill, #2139, which is within the City of Carrollton but immediately adjacent to the east City limits of the City of Coppell; and WHKP. EAS, the City of Coppell has expressed its concern and opposition to this proposed landfill to the Carrollton City Council during their public hearing on the zoning case; and WHERF2~S, the City of Coppell has informed Mr. L. D. Hancock, Texas Department of Health, Solid Waste Division, of its opposition via a letter from Coppell Mayor Mark Wolfe, dated January 16, 1990; and WHEREAS, the City of Coppell has requested to both the Texas Department of Health and the City of Carrollton that we be kept informed of any actions or changes to the proposed application; and WHEREAS, the City of Coppell has recently learned that representatives of the City of Carrollton have visited the offices of the Texas Department of Health, Solid Waste Division, indicating an interest in the approval of this application; and WHEP~AS, the City of Coppell continues in its concern for the negative impact on the health, welfare, and safety of its citizens which will result from the approval of this property as a landfill; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THECITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. The City of Coppell wishes to express its concern and opposition to the approval of landfill site application #2139 because of its projected impact on the health, welfare, and safety of Coppell citizens. Section 2. The City of Coppell is concerned that the City of Carrollton is now reviewing the possible opportunities of this being a municipal landfill without informing or addressing the concerns of the adjoining City of Coppell. The City of Coppell reiterates our desire to be kept informed of all actions, changes, or addenda made to application #2139 so we may provide appropriate input and response. Section 3. The City of Coppell therefore requests the Texas Department of Health to deny application #2139 and to refuse to allow the operation of this landfill.
