BM 2005-05-19 KCB Keep Coppell Beautiful Minutes of Meeting May 19, 2005 The Keep Coppell Beautiful Committee met on May 19, 2005 at 7pm in the Conference Room at the Coppell Service Center, 816 So. Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were present, Sheila Bester, Co-Chairman, Lisa Cunov, Jane Filarowicz, Julie Basham, Christopher Reed, and City of Coppell Liaison: Amanda Vanhoozier, Community Programs Coordinator. Not Present, Karen Smith, John Dobson Item 1: Call Meeting to Order -Sheila Bester called meeting to order at 7:07p.m. Item 2: Consider Approval of Minutes, April 21, 2005 Minutes. Approved (5-0) Item 3: Citizen's Forum. No citizens present. Item 4: Presentation by Waste Management on Yard Trimmings Recycling Service Presentation canceled. Item 5: Discussion and consider approval of summer meeting schedule. Committee members discussed canceling the June and July meeting and meet on August 18th. Next AAL pick up is scheduled for June 11th. Amanda suggested changing the schedule starting in October and meet every other month. Julie Basham motioned to cancel the June and July meeting, Chris Reed second. Motion carried unanimously. (5-0) Item 6: Discussion and consider approval of Fourth of July Parade. The parade is scheduled for Monday July 4th at 10:00 am. Committee members discussed of participation in the parade with the Jr. Master Gardeners. Sheila Bester will contact Deb Newton-Hair and coordinate the event. Lisa Cunov motioned to submit an entry in the parade and participate with the Jr. Master Gardeners, Julie second. Motion carried unanimously. (5-0) Item 7: Discussion of AAL Program Committee members are in contact with the AAL group's representatives. Item 8: Discussion of the Governor's Community Achievement Award/KTB Youth Award Amanda presented the final award to the committee. Winners will be announced May 26th at 5:00. Julie Basham suggested having magnets with illegal dumping information to improve the illegal dumping section of the award. Amanda informed the committee that the Green Team won third place in the KTB Youth Award. Item 9: Discussion of Educational Plan-Curriculum Kits Lisa Cunov and Amanda will work on getting the kits ready for next school year. Litter Getter award will be presented on May 27th, 8:00 am at Town Center Elementary. Item 10: Community Program Report. JR. Master Gardener Club starts in June. Wellington Place is interested in having a JMG Club. Farmers Market Grand Opening is Saturday at 8:00am. Waste Management has been picking up between 22-26 ton of yard trimming per week.
