LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
September 8, 2005
The William T. Cozby Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session on
Thursday, September 9, 2005 in the program room of the William T. Cozby Public
Library.
1. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Chair, Thomas Trahan
at 7:09 p.m. Other board members present were Melissa Hall, Lori Pierson, Beth Sparks,
David Smith, Saul Friedman, Morgan Griffin and Melanie LeMay. Staff in attendance
were Library Director, Kathleen Edwards, Assistant Director, Connie Moss and
Administrative Technician, Janet Lance.
2. READING AND APPROVAL OF BOARD MINUTES DATED AUGUST
11, 2005: Melissa Hall moved to approve the minutes and Saul Friedman seconded the
motion. All were in favor and the minutes were approved.
3. CITIZENS' APPEARANCES: None
4. PRESENTATION OF TOWN CENTER PROJECT: Brad Reid, Director of
Parks and Recreation presented to the library board the Town Center Commons/ Plaza
Development Plan. The presentation covered the key issues, design ideas and the design
concept of the multi purpose plaza. Discussion ensued.
5. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
. Workload Indicators: Circulation was up 22% from last year. The Internet access
was down for several days due to the city reconfiguring its security. The city recently
changed Internet Service Providers and the library staff are updating URLs with the
new address.
. Comments/Suggestions: There were several suggestions related to the acquisition of
new books and movies. Patron suggested adult activities. An Interior Decorating
Design program is being offered on October 1,2005, at this time the library does not
have the resources for a comprehensive adult schedule.
6. ADJOURNMENT: Lori Pierson moved and Saul Friedman seconded to adjourn
at 8:45 p.m. Carried.
