A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COPPELL, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF AN
APPLICATION TO THE GOVERNOR'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE
DIVISION FOR FUNDING OF A CRIME PREVENTION UNIT:
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CHIEF OF POLICE
TO EXECUTE SUCH DOCUMENTS OR AGREEMENTS NECESSARY
AND INCIDENTAL TO THE APPLICATION; AND PROVIDING
FOR THE LOCAL FUNDS FOR SUCH PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Governor's Criminal Justice Division provides
funding for criminal justice programs on a local level; and,
WHEREAS, The City of Coppell desires to make application
to said Division for the purpose of funding a Crime Prevention
Unit to focus special attention and effort towards implementing
a community-policing concept to educate the citizenry in effective
crime prevention, thereby effecting a reduction in the crime rate.
WHEREAS, said program requires the City to commit funds
and manpower; and,
WHEREAS, after considering said program, the City Council
of the City of Coppell, Texas, finds that it is in favor of imple-
menting same; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF COPPELL, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the application for funding of a Crime
Prevention Unit, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby
approved and authorized for submission to the Governor's Criminal
Justice Division.
Section 2. That the City Manager and the Chief of
Police are hereby authorized to execute such documents or agree-
ments as are necessary and incidental to said application.
Section 3. That the sum of Four Thousand Nine Hundred
Seventy-Five Dollars ($*4,975.00*) is hereby pledged as the esti-
mated local share for the financing of said program for the first
grant year, that being 50% match for equipment costs.
