Minutes of Meeting
May 18, 2006
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on May 18, 2006, at 7 p.m. in the Conference Room at the
Coppell Service Center, 816 So. Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were present:, John
Dobson, Chairman, Brent Wooten, Lisa Cunov, Joyce Whitbread, and Amanda Vanhoozier, City Liaison and
Community Programs Supervisor.
Item 1:Call Meeting to Order
John Dobson called meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.
Item 2:Consider Approval of April 20, 2006, Minutes
Brent Wooten moved to approve the minutes, and Lisa Cunov seconded the motion.
Motion carried 4-0.
Item 3:Citizen’s Forum
No citizens present.
Item 4:Discussion and Consider Approval of Summer KCB Board Meeting Schedule
After discussion, Joyce Whitbread moved to reconvene on August 17, 2006. Lisa Cunov
seconded the motion.
Motion carried 4-0.
Discussion and Consider Approval of Retail Litter Abatement Plan
Item 5:
Amanda Vanhoozier reported that the average litter index is at 1.6, which is the same as
last year’s index.
Discussion followed regarding the Tom Thumb/Starbucks shopping area. Starbucks has
put a big trash receptacle outside recently which is helping to control the litter of bags,
flyers, cups, etc.
Lisa Cunov suggested that each board member go to the manager of the store they have
been surveying and let them know that citizens concerned about the litter in shopping
areas contacted KCB. Tell them that KCB has been surveying them for the past six
months, let them know their ratings and thank them for any help they can give to alleviate
litter on their sidewalks, curbs and parking lots.
Lisa Cunov moved to have Amanda Vanhoozier prepare a letter or form containing the
above information and recommendations, email a draft to the subcommittee, and have the
form ready in time for members to contact the managers and report back to the board at
the August 17 meeting. Joyce Whitbread seconded the motion.
The motion carried 4-0.
Item 6:Discussion and Consider Approval of Fourth of July Parade Entry
Amanda Vanhoozier plans to have the KCB/CCG/Farmers Market covered trailer
ready with a graphic design on sides by July 4. Board members will decorate it
with red, white and blue, wear KCB or Earth Fest T-shirts and walk beside trailer
in the parade.
Brent Wooten moved to accept these plans, and Lisa Cunov seconded.
Motion carried 4-0.
Item 7:Discussion ofAAL Program
Amanda Vanhoozier reported that all unassigned locations are ready for adoption by
businesses, individuals or families since a lot of volunteers dropped out of the program.
Amanda Vanhoozier will add AAL information to the City Website and Coppell Clips.
An updated list will be emailed to board members.
KCB will pick up litter on June 3, 2006.
Awards for AAL 5 years of service were given at the Parks and Recreation Volunteer
Dinner last week to Creekview HOA, Coppell Park Board, Coppell Pediatric Association,
and Kiwanis Club of Coppell.
Item 8:Discussion of Youth Advisory Positions on Board
Applications are due by July 27, 2006, and will be located on the City Website after
Memorial Day. KCB board will meet at 6:00 or 6:30 before the August 17 meeting to
interview applicants for two advisory positions and one alternate.

Community Programs Report

Coppell Community Gardens will be featured on KERA Public TV between
programs through June 06.

Coppell Farmers Market is booming with business and new vendors weekly. More
parking is needed.

GCAA application has been submitted and results will be known next week.

KCB applications were passed out to Chris Reed, Lisa Cunov and Brent Wooten for
reapplying to the Board in October 2006.
