RE 02-11-86.1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS RESOLUTION NO. 021186.1 ELECTION OF MUNICIPAL OFFICERS Coppell, Texas April 5, 1986 ELECTION ORDER BE IT REMEMBERED THAT on this 11th day of February, 1986, at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas, a quorum bein present, the meeting was called to order and the Council issued the following order: IT IS ORDERED that an election be held in the City of Coppell, Texas, on the Sth d~y of April, 10811, the same being the first Saturday of said month for the following purpose: To elect one Couneilmember for Place 1 for 8 two-year term, one Couneilmember for Place 3 for a two-year term, one Couneilmember for Place 5 for a two~year term, one Couneilmember for Place 7 for a two-year term, and one Couneilmember for Place 6 for a one-year term. The candidate for each such office receiving a majority of all votes east for all eanOidates for such office shall be elected to serve sueh term or until his or her successor is duly elected and qualified. In the event any candidate for any one of said offices fails to receive a majority of all votes cast for all the candidates for such office, a run-off election shall be called as provided for by the Charter of the City. The polling place for said election shall be the pinkerton Elementary School, 260 Southwestern Blvd., Coppell, Texas. The polls shall be open from 7:00 o'clock a.m. to 7:00 o'clock p.m. None but legally qualified voters of the City shall be entitled to vote at said election. Notice of said election shall be published once in the official newspaper of the City not earlier than March 6, 1986, nor later than March 26, 1986, and shall be posted on the Bulletin Board used to publish notice of City Council Meetings not later than March 21, 1986. A copy of the published notice that contains the name of the newspaper and the date of publication shall be retained as a record of such notice and the person posting the notice shall make a record at the time of posting stating the date and place of posting. A Presiding Election Judge and an Alternate Presiding Election Judge shall be appointed to serve at said polling place by written resolution of the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas. The Presiding Election Judge shall also serve as the presiding officer of the Absentee Ballot Board which is hereby created. The other election officers serving at said election shall serve as the other members of the Absentee Ballot Board for said election. The Presiding Judge for said polling place shall appoint two Election Clerks and as many additional Clerks as are necessary for the proper conduct of the election. Provided, however,10 shall be the maximum number of Clerks which may be appointed to serve at said polling place. All Judges and Clerks shall be qualified voters in the City. Absentee voting for the above designated election shall be held at the regular office of the City Secretary at the City Hall Building, Coppell, Texas, and said place of absentee voting shall remain open on each day of absentee voting which is not a Saturday, Sunday or a legal State holiday, beginning on the 20th day and continuing through the 4th day preceding the date of said election. Said place of absentee voting shall remain open during the hours the City Secretary's office is regularly open for business. After holding said election, the Election Judges shall promptly make their returns to the City Secretary and to the Mayor, and the Secretary shall thereafter present such returns to the City Council for the canvassing of said election. The canvass of said election returns shall be conducted by the City Council of the City of Coppell not earlier than the 2nd day nor later than the 6th day after the election. The Presiding Election Judge shall be paid the sum of $5.00 per hour, plus an additional sum of $25.00 for his services in delivering the returns of the election. The Alternate Presiding Election Judge shall be paid the sum of $5.00 per hour and each Election Clerk shall be paid the sum of $5.00 per hour for their services in holding the election. Such payments shall not exceed the maximum amounts set out in the Texas Election code, to-wit: $5.00 per hour for each election official, plus an additional amount paid to the Presiding Judge for delivering the returns, not to exceed $25.00.
