RE 06-25-85 RESOLUTION 062585 WHEREAS, the legislation permitting the creation of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Authority provides that entities having a population, according to the 1980 census, of less than 60,000 persons may form consortiums with other entities within the authority for the purpose of appointing a common representative to the Board of Directors of said authority, and WHEREAS, the Cities of Addison, Coppell, Farmers Branch, and Flower Mound each have a 1980 population of less than (~0,000 persons; and WHEREAS, each of said cities is anticipated to have common desires concerning future transportation improve- ments; and WHEREAS, a representative to the Board of Directors of said authority for said cities has not been appointed; and WHEREAS, it is the consensus of the City Council of the City of Coppell that Robert E. Thomas possesses the quali- fications desired to represent said cities as a member of the Board of Directors of said authority. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL: SECTION 1: That the City of Coppell enter into a consortium with the Cities of Addison, Farmers Branch and Flower Mound for the purpose of designating a representative to the Board of Directors of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit authority, subject to the concurrent approval of said Cities. SECTION Z: Said Robert E. Thomas is hereby designated as the appointee of the City of Coppeli, subject only to the approval and concurrent appointment by the Cities of Addison, Farmers Branch, and Flower Mound. SECTION 3: That copies of the Resolution shall be transmitted to said Robert E. Thomas, the City of Addison, the City of Farmers Branch, the City of Flower Mound and the Chairperson folthe Dallas Area Rapid Transit authority.
