RE 09-25-84.1 RESOLUTION NUMBER 092584.1
WHEREAS, there exists a past and present need to provide a north-
south major highway route on the western side of DFW Airport in
Tarrant County;
WHEREAS, the area immediately west of the DFW Airport has experi-
enced rapid and continuous population growth which is not
expected to abate in the foreseeable future;
WHEREAS, numerous employees, workers, and delivery support vehicles
must contend with inordinate drive-time situations;
WHEREAS, continued appropriate business development and relocations
will help provide jobs and increase the tax base for the benefit
of our citizens;
WHEREAS, appropriate business development and relocations will oc-
cur only if present and projected transportation systems are
adequate to quickly and efficiently handle vehicular traffic;
WHEREAS, the DFW Airport suffers needlessly from through-traffic
congestion because of inadequate alternatives to the west of the
Airport;
WHEREAS, the northern extension of Highway 360 from Highway 183 to
Highway 121 (hereinafter referred to as the "360 Project" has
been recognized as needed for a number of years;
WHEREAS, the early completion of the 360 Project will greatly re-
lieve the vehicular congestion in and around the DFW Airport;
WHEREAS, the early completion of the 360 Project will help promote
jobs and increase tax values to the benefit of all citizens; and
WHEREAS, the early completion of the 360 Project will help in at-
tracting appropriate businesses to the area and the resulting new
jobs will be of benefit to the community and to the economy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of
of the County of~//~$ , pursuant to the ~uthority vested
in it, after careful and thorough review, does hereby endorse and
support the completion of the 360 Project at the earliest
possible time.
AND FURTHERMORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and appropriate city
staff are encouraged to bring this Resolution to the attention of
the Texas Highway Commission in Austin on November 21, 1983, at a
hearing to be held to consider the 360 Project.
AND FURTHERMORE, BE IT RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution and
requests for their support be sent to Governor Mark White, Lt.
Governor Bill Hobby, Speaker Gib Lewis, Members of the Texas
Highway Co~unission, and our legislative delegation.
