RE 11-09-82 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXA$ RESOLUTION NO. 110982 WHEREAS, there presently exists a State statute which imposes a small tax on the sale of cigarettes within this State, the revenues from which are used to acquire and develop parks and open spaces within the State; and WHEREAS, unless such tax is extended by the Legislature it shall terminate in the near future thereby eliminating this important source of revenue for parks and open space development; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Coppell wishes to go on record in support of the continuation of this tax. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas: SECTION 1 The City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas, supports the continuation of that portion of the tax on cigarettes within this State, the revenues from which are designated for the acquisition and development of parks and open spaces within the SECTION 2 The City Secretary of the City of Coppel] is hereby directed to forward copies of this resolution to the appropriate members of our State Government and State Legislature so that they will be informed as to the City's position in regard to this matter. SECTION 3 This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage as the law in such cases provides.
