The City Council of the City of Coppell met in a special called
emergency session at 6:15 p.m,, in the Council Chambers/Executive
Chambers of the Town Center located at 255 Parkway Boulevard, Coppell,
Texas. Those members present were:
Mark Wolfe, Mayor
Dean Wilkereon, Mayor Pro Te~
David M. Thomas, Councilman
Tom Morton, Councilman
Bill Smothermon, Conncil~an
J~- Cowman, Counci~man
Rob Robertson, Councilman
John A. Nelson, Councilman
Mayor Wolfe called the meetins to order and Councilman Smothermon save
the invocation.
~YECUTIVE SESSION (Closed to the Public)
Item 2: Article 6252-17, Section 2 (f) concerninS purchase, exchanse,
lease, or value of real property.
a. A&M Project
Mayor Wolfe then declared the public session closed for an Executive
Session on Thursday, June 29, 1989, at 6:18 p.n. ne allowed under the
above recited articles. Mayor Wolfe adjourned the Executi~e Session at
7:28 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 1989, and opened the public session.
Open Session (Open to the Public)
%tom 3: Consider action by the City Council concernin8 the A&M project
as may be required ns a result of the matters discussed in the
Executive Session.
Counc~u~ Smothermon moved that the City Council of the City of Coppell
issue a commitment to vaive fees and other legal charges or otherwise
enter into an agreements appropriate; to provide $220,000 to the
project, continsent upon the A&M Extension proposed for Coppell he an
A&M project staffed by A&M personnel from top to bottom, and be under
the control of Texas A&H, In addition, Coppell Independent School
District should be mede aware of the current 8i~uation and afforded the
oppor~unity to also provide some method of funding tkte project.
Councilman Smothermon further requested that the opportunity be mede
available to them at their next resular Board meetin8. CouncllBan
Cowman seconded the motion; motion carried 5-2 ~th Councilman Morton,
Thomas, Cowman, ltobertson and Nelson votins in favor of the motion and
Mayor Pro Tern Wilkerson and Councilman Thomas voting against the motion.
There heine no further business to come before the Council the meeting
was adjourned.
