CM 1987-08-18 Minutes August 18, 1987
The City Council of the City of Coppell met in a special called session
on Tuesday, August 18, 1987 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the
Coppell Town Center. The following members were present:
Lou Duggan, Mayor
Dan Stanton, Mayor Pro Tem
Dean Wilkerson, Councilman
Walter PettiJohn, Councilman
Tom Morton, Councilman
Bill Smothermon, Councilman
Councilmen Jim Cowman and Mark Wolfe were not pr&sent. Also present
were City Manager Alan D. Ratliff, City Secretary Dorothy Timmons and
City Attorney Larry Jackson.
The meeting was called to order and everyone asked to stand while
Councilman Smothermon gave the invocation. Following the invocation
Mayor Duggan led those present in the pledge of allegiance.
Prior to the regular items scheduled on the agenda, Mayor Duggan gave
the following information.
A. The teachers appreciation luncheon will be held on August 20th at
the Crown Plaza Hotel.
B. During the previous weekend, the city was very close to using the
total consumption allowed under Dallas Contract. It is requested
that citizens use a voluntary odd-even watering schedule in order
to avoid a retroactive charge of approximately $65,000 which would
be imposed should we exceed the total consumption allowed.
C. A meeting will be held August 19th at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall to
discuss Beltline Road east-west. Mayor Pro Tem Stanton will attend
this meeting for the City.
D. Construction on Bethel School Road will begin in the very near
future. Citizens of that area will be inconvenienced by the
construction; however, upon completion the roadway should be
beneficial to all citizens of the City.
Item 1: Consider adoption of a resolution declaring an
Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Agreement of December 18, 1985
between the City of Coppell and the City of Lewisville void
and of no further force or effect.
Mayor Duggan read the proposed Resolution No. 081887.1. Following the
reading, Councilman Smothermon moved that the above stated resolution
number be approved. Councilman Wilkerson seconded, motion carried
unanimously with Mayor Pro Tem Stanton, Councilmen Wilkerson, Pettijohn,
Morton and Smothermon voting in favor of the motion.
The meeting was then adjourned.
