LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
January 2007
The William T. Cozby Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session on Thursday,
January 11, 2007 in the program room at the William T. Cozby Public Library.
1.CALL TO ORDER
: The meeting was called to order by Chair, Douglas Johnson at 7:05
p.m. Other board members present were Meme Collins-Tabuena, Linda McCrary, David Smith,
Kathy Ross, Marcia Raines, Nancy Tao, Morgan Griffin and Sarah LaFountain. Staff in
Assistant Library Director, Connie Moss and Sr.Administrative Technician, Janet Lance.
2.APPROVAL OF BOARD MINUTES DATED November 9, 2006:
David Smith
moved to approve the minutes and Meme Collins-Tabuena seconded the motion. All were in
favor and the minutes were approved.
3.CITIZENS’ APPEARANCES:
None
4.LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT
:

Workload indicators:
Circulation rose 2% and gate count (13%). Children’s book
circulation increased 8% and Internet usage up 13% including WiFi .

Comments/Suggestions:
Suggestions relating to the acquisition of new books,
movies and periodicals were given to Public Services staff for evaluation and follow-
up. This month received only suggestion relating to acquisition of library materials.
5.HOMEWORK CENTER GRANT:
Awarded NETLS Grant of $4,800 for four
computers for the homework center.
6.FOUNDATION:
No new information on the status of the foundation.
7.CHANGING/CANCELING LIBRARY BOARD MEETING SCHEDULED APRIL
12, 2007:
The April 12, 2007 library meeting conflicts with TLA conference in San Antonio.
Meme Collins-Tabuena moved and Kathy Ross seconded that the April 12, 2007 library board
meeting be canceled, motion carried.
8.LEADERSHIP COPPELL:
Connie Moss encouraged library board members to
consider signing up for the Leadership Coppell which will be six full day sessions beginning
Thursday, February 8, 2007. The library staff will be hosting the Leadership Coppell on April 5,
2007.
9.TEXAS STATE LIBRARY AND ARCHIVES COMMISSION ANNUAL REPORT:
Signature of Chair, Douglas Johnson required on the TLA and Archives Commission Annual
Report.

10. INPUT TO THE CHAIRMAN’S REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL FEBRUARY 27,
2007:
Chair, Douglas Johnson will be presenting the library report to city council on February
27, 2007 and stated that if anyone had any item that they like presented to the board to let him
know.
8.ADJOURNMENT:
Marcia Raines moved and David Smith seconded to adjourn at
7:35 pm. Carried.
