CM 1983-01-13 Minutes of January 13, 1983 The City Council of the City of Coppell met in speC4al called session at 6:30 p.m. on January 13, 1983, in the Coppell High School Administration Building. The following members were present: Andrew Brown, Jr., Mayor Orville Mayo, Mayor Pro Tem Walter Pettijohn, Councilman Bunny Thompson, Councilman Dale Ware, Councilman Glen White, Councilman Also present were City Secretary Dorothy Timmons and City Attorney Larry Jackson. The meeting was called to order and Mayor Brown stated that the City was provid- ing the four former City employees with an opportunity to discuss their terminat- ion as requested in the written letter submitted to the City. Mr. Robert Lyon was the attorney representing these officers. Mr. Lyon questioned the follow- ing persons during the course of the discussions: Police Chief, Tom Griffin, former City employee Steve Collier, Councilman Dale Ware, Mayor Pro Tem Orville Mayo, Councilman Bunny Thompson, Councilman Glen White, City Secretary Dorothy Timmons, former City employee Bob Anderson, former City employee Jerry Barker, former City employee Bob Howell, former City employee Steve Matus, Mayor Andrew Brown, Councilman Walter Pettijohn. Following discussion and questioning, a summation was made by Mr, Lyon. A statement was then made by the Mayor who received a petition that had been presented by Mr. Lyon. This petition is on file at City Hall as a permanent part of the City records. Following discussion, Councilman Pettijohn moved that the former City employees be reinstated with back pay and seniority; Motion died for a lack of second. Councilman Ware then moved that upon the review of all information that had been received and nothing being submitted to change the fact that the original decision to terminate the employees stand as was stated in the motion made on December 14, 1982; Councilman Thompson seconded and motion carried 3-1-1 with Councilman Pettijohn voting against the motion and Councilman White abstaining from voting.
