CM 1984-06-20 Minutes of June 20, 1984
The City Council of the City of Coppell met in special called session at
6:00 p.m. on the 20th day of June, 1984, at the Coppell Middle School
Cafeteria.
The following members were present:
Andrew Brown, Jr., Mayor
John Bailey, Councilman
Walter Pettijohn, Councilman
Lou Duggan, Councilman
Dale Ware, Councilman (Late Arrival)
Mayor Pro Tem Bunny Thompson was not present. City staff members who were
present are as follows: Ron Ragland, Dorothy Timmons, Tom Griffin, Steve
Goram, Richard Terry, Judi Biggerstaff, Diana McPheeters, Garry Wiggs,
Lewis McLain and Bob McLain.
ITEM NO. 1: Budget Planning Worksession
Following a worksession on the proposed amendments to the 1982-84 budget,
Councilman Duggan moved that these budget amendments be tabled to the next
regularly scheduled meeting so that all Councilmembers could be present;
Councilman Pettijohn seconded and motion carried 2-1 with Councilman Bailey
against the motion.
ITEM NO. 2: Executive Session (Closed to the Public)
The meeting was then closed for an Executive Session allowed under Article
6252-17, Section 2 (g) discussion concerning personnel. Councilman Ware
arrived at this time.
Following the Executive Session, the meeting was opened to the public.
Councilman Ware moved that Per Herbert Birdsall be hired in the Street
Department effective 6-25-84 at a rate of 6.34 per hour; Councilman Duggan
seconded and motion carried 4-0. Councilman Ware then moved that the
resignation of Scott Barnett, Planning Coordinator, be accepted effective
7-25-84; Councilman Duggan seconded and motion carried 4-0.
