CM 1985-05-09 Minutes of May 9, 1985 The City Council of the City of Coppell met in special called session on Thursday, May 9, 1985 at 8:00 p.m. in the Coppell High School Administration Building. The following members were present: Lou Duggan, Mayor Dale Ware Councilman John Bailey, Councilman Bill Smothermon, Jr., Councilman Mayor Pro Tem Bunny Thompson and Councilman Walter Pettijohn were not present. Also present were City Secretary Dorothy Timmons, Water Superintendent Steve Goram, and City Attorney Larry Jackson. Mayor Duggan called the meeting to order. EXECUTIVE SESSION (Closed to the public) 1. Article 6252-17, Section 2 (e) discussion with City Attorney 2. Article 6252-17, Section 2 (g) discussion concerning personnel The meeting was then closed to the public for an executive session allowed under the above stated articles. Following the executive session, the meeting was declared open to the public. Councilman Smothermon moved that three temporary summer positions in the Street and Parks Department be authorized with two of those positions being filled by John Trunzler and Clint Scott; Councilman Bailey seconded and motion carried 3-0. Councilman Bailey moved that Janene Berger be hired as a dispatcher in the Police Department, that Patrolmen Mark Leonard and Phillip Robertson be promoted to Sergeants, that the budgeted position of Court Baliff/Patrolman be filled, and that an additional position for Patrolman be allocated; Councilman Ware seconded and motion carried 3-0. Councilman Smothermon moved that the City authorize the filling of the position in the Water Department previously held by E. M. Varkey; Councilman Bailey seconded and motion carried 3-0. Councilman Bailey moved that Keith Malloy Smith be hired as Utility Serviceman I in the Water Department; Councilman Ware seconded and motionATTEsT:Carried 3-0.
