Minutes of Meeting
January 18, 2007
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on January 18, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room at the
Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were present:
Brent Wooten, Chairman, John Dobson, Cheryl Colmery; Cindy Geppert and Joyce Whitbread. Student
Advisors present: James Halpin and Janice Kim, and City Liaison Amanda Vanhoozier, Community
Programs Supervisor, and Carrie Stevenson, Special Events Coordinator.
Item 1:Call Meeting to Order

Brent Wooten, Chairman, called meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
Item 2:Consider Approval of November 16, 2006, Minutes
?
Cheryl Colmery made a motion to approve the minutes with corrections as follows:
Item 4: Change “minutes” to “application” in motion to approve.
Item 5: Add “Board members received assignments for Adopt A Location.
Item 6: Add Tom Hudon to Clean Coppell Planning subcommittee and remove John
Dobson.
John Dobson seconded the motion.
Vote: 5-0, approved.
Item 3:Citizen’s Forum
?
No citizens present.
Item 4:Consider Approval of the Clean Coppell Earthfest Planner
?
Amanda Vanhoozier explained the planner and discussion followed.
?
John Dobson made a motion to approve the planner.
Cindy Geppert seconded the motion.
Vote: 5-0, approved
Item 5:Consider Approval of the Governors Community Achievement Award Planner
?
Item tabled until May 2007 for discussion for the GCAA calendar year.
Item 6:Discussion of Adopt A Location Program and Renewals
?
Amanda Vanhoozier stated that Cecilia Gandara will email reports and group
assignments for February 15, 2007, renewal deadline.
?
Board members are to contact groups concerning their renewals.
?
March 3, 2007, is next KCB pickup date.
Item 7:Orientation Part 3: Coppell Recycles
?
Amanda Vanhoozier reviewed the various aspects of recycling in Coppell:
residential, commercial, yard trimmings, schools, ball fields, and e-cycling.
Item 8:Community Programs Report
1.
Center in 2006. The CCG will help host the American Community Gardening Assoc.
Seminar on Feb. 19 along with Gardeners in Comm. Dev. (Dallas), Plano Envior.
Governors Award Landscape Committee -
Still in the process of forming this
committee. Cheryl and John have volunteered to be on it.
2. Healthy Living Fair -
Feb. 20, 6-9pm, at Town Center. Fair will feature the CCG
Annual Garden Sign up, Hike and Bike Trails, CFM, Master Composters and many
more local opportunities folks have to chose a healthy lifestyle that helps themselves
and the environment.
Coppell Community Garden
3. - The CCGC Board has a new slate of officers and
committee chairs for 2007. The final total of Share the Harvest was over 10,000
pounds donated to the food pantry at MSS and Senior Center and Educ. Comm.
Garden at the TX Extension Office.
Coppell Farmers Market
4. - CFM will start their fifth year in the Spring 2007.
Master Composters of Coppell
5. - Master Composter Seminar is Feb. 22-24. MC of
Coppell will be going on a field trip Sat., Jan. 20, to Plano Pure-compost facility.
E-Cycling Collection
6. - The Computer Recycling Collection was successful where
236 cars dropped off 11.6 TONS. Thanks to the KCB Board Members that helped
unload along with CHS Youth.
Coppell Recycles at the Ballfields
7. will start up again with the spring baseball and
soccer seasons. We added the Andy Brown East girls softball fields in the program.
Recycling Promotion in Motion
8. project has started with the trailer and wrap. Will
roll out the display at Clean Coppell Earthfest on April 21.
