ORDINANCE NO. 2007-1156
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY AMENDING CHAPTER 6,
“BUSINESS REGULATIONS,” ARTICLE 6-9, TOW TRUCK
REGULATIONS, BY REPEALING SECTION 6-9-2 (A) AND REPLACING
WITH A NEW SECTION 6-9-2(A); AND, BY REPEALING SECTION 6-9-
2(E) AND REPLACING WITH A NEW SECTION 6-9-2(E); AND,
REPEALING SECTION 6-9-2(F) IN ITS ENTIRETY; PROVIDING A
REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, AND;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,
Article 6-9 of the Code of Ordinances provides for Tow Truck Regulations
within the City of Coppell; and
WHEREAS,
Section 6-9-2 provides for the registration and licensing requirements for
tow trucks; and
WHEREAS,
the City Council has determined that Chapter 6, Article 6-9 should be
amended to update the provisions contained in Section 6-9-2 by amending subsections (A) and
(E) and by repealing subsection (F) as provided herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS;
SECTION 1.
That Chapter 6, Article 6-9 of the City of Coppell Code of Ordinances, be
and the same is hereby amended, by repealing Section 6-9-2(A) and replacing with a new
Section 6-9-2(A), by repealing Section 6-9-2(E) and replacing with a new Section 6-9-2(E) and
byrepealing Section 6-9-2(F) in its entirety, which shall read as follows:
“ARTICLE 6-9. TOW TRUCK REGULATIONS
. . . . .
Sec. 6-9-2. Registration; license.
(A)It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or cause to be operated a
wrecker that performs consent tows within the city without first having registered
the wrecker with the city.

(E) The Chief of Police of shall, within a reasonable time after the date of
application, issue the registration or license, as the case may be, to the applicant
who complies with the provisions of this Article."
SECTION 2. That all provisions of the Ordinances of the City of Coppell, Texas, in
conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be, and the same are hereby, repealed, and all other
provisions of the Ordinances of the City not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance shall
remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3. Should any sentence, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase or section of
this ordinance be adjudged or held to be unconstitutional, illegal or invalid, the same shall not
affect the validity of this ordinance as a whole, or any part or provision thereof other than the
part so decided to be invalid, illegal or unconstitutional, and shall not affect the validity of the
Code of Ordinances of the City ofCoppell, Texas
SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage
as the law and charter in such cases provide.
