CM 1990-02-07 Minutes of February 7, 1990
The City Council of the City of Coppell met in an emergency meeting of a
special called session at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 1990 in
Town Center, 255 Parkway Boulevard, Coppell, Texas. The following
members were present:
Mark Wolfe, Mayor
Dean Wilkerson, Mayor Pro Tem
David Thomas, Councilman
Tom Morton, Councilman
Jim Cowman, Councilman (late arrival)
Rom Robertson, Councilman
John A. Nelson, Councilman
Councilman Bill Smothermon was absent from the meeting. Also present
were City Manager Alan D. Ratliff, City Secretary Dorothy Timmons and
Bond Counsel Peter Tart.
The meeting was called to order and Councilman Robertson gave the
invocation. Following the invocation, Mayor Wolfe led those present in
the Pledge of Allegiance.
Item 3: To consider amending Ordinance 90464 to clarify the language
of Proposition No. 3 dealing with the natatorium/sw~mming pool
facility.
Following discussion on this item, Councilman Morton moved that
Ordinance 90465 be approved and authorize the Mayor to sign. Councilman
Robertmon seconded the motion; motion carried 5-0 with Mayor Pro Tem
Wilkerson, Councilmen Thomas, Morton, Robertson and Nelson voting in
favor of the motion.
Mayor Wolfe then informed the Council of anticipated procedures to
notify citizens in the City of the upcoming Bond Election.
Councilman Cowman arrived during this discussion.
There are essentially thirty (30) groups of homeowners and organizations
throughout the City that the Bond Committee will be speaking with. The
Committee is requesting that one (1) Council member accompany two (2)
Bond Committee members to each meeting where a history of the program
and a review of the propositions will be given by the Bond Committee
members. Council members will be asked to speak on tax implications and
tax relationships to other Cities.
Sunday, February 25, 1990 yard signs will be distributed throughout the
City urging citizens to vote "YES" on the Bond Election to be held on
Saturday, March 3, 1990.
There being no further business to come before the City Council the
meeting was adjourned.
