CM 1980-10-14 Minutes of October 14, 1980 The City Council of the City of Co'ppe~'met in regular session on October 14, 1980 at 7:30 p.m. in the Coppell High School cafeteria. The following members were present: Andrew Brown, Jr., ~ayor David Phillips, Mayor Pro Tem Roy Brock, Councilman Orville Mayo, Councilman Glen White, Councilman Dale Ware, Councilman Also present were City Administrator James Elium and City Secretary Dorothy Timmons. The meeting was called to order and everyone asked to stand while Mayor Pro Tem Phillips gave the invocation. Following the invocation, Councilman Brock moved ~a~ the reading of the minutes be waived; Councilman White seconded and motion carried 5-0. Councilman White then moved that the minutes be approved as submitted; Councilman Mayo seconded and motion carried 5-0. The first item to be considered by the Council was a recommendation from Mr. Guy Smith representing the Willowood Homeowners Association for names to be considered for Park Board appointments. Mr. Smith presented a letter and the names of Mr. Fred Ferraro, Ms. Sandy Marks, and Mr. Joe Nave. A copy of this letter is attached as a permanent part of these minutes. No action was taken on this item. Councilman White moved that the item concerning the recon~endation from the Park Board for the purchase of playground equipment for the greenbelt area in the Willowood Subdivision be tabled until the next Council Meeting; Councilman Broc~k seconded and motion carried 5-0. The meeting was then closed for an Executive Session allowed under Article 6252-17, Section 2 (g) discussion concerning personnel. Following the Executive Session, the meeting was declared open to the public. Councilman White moved that the City approve the two Ceta positions, one of water and sewer labor and the other one of police dispatcher for a period of 18 months; Councilman Brock seconded and motion carried 5-0. Councilman White moved that the resignation of Robert Foster, fireman, be accepted ef- fective November 1, 1980; Councilman Brock seconded and motion carried 5-0. Councilman Brock moved that Mark Dobecka be hired to replace the position left vacant by the leaving of Tim McGinnis in the Fire Department; Council- White seconded and motion carried 5-0. Councilman Brock then moved that the Police Department be approved to hire a part-time person temporarily to dis- patch at a salary of $4.44 an hour during the illness of Marilyn Winters; Councilman White seconded the motion which carried 5-0.
