Minutes of October 19, 1982
The City Council of the City of Coppell met in special called session on
October 19, 1982 at 7:30 p.m. in the Coppell ISD Administration Building.
The following members were present:
Andrew Brown, Jr., Mayor
Orville Mayo, Mayor Pro Tem
Walter Pettijohn, Councilman
Bunny Thompson, Councilman
Dale Ware, Councilman
Glen White, Councilman
Also present was City Secretary Dorothy Timmons. The meeting was called to order
and everyone asked to stand while Councilman Pettijohn gave the invocation.
ITEM NO. 3 - Public hearing on the proposed 1982-83 Revenue Sharing and Municipal
Budget.
Mayor Brown declared the public hearing open and asked for those persons who had
comments on the budget. Those persons present were Mr. Bill Westcoat, Mr. Jack
Hannan, Mr. Forrest Jenson, Mr. Bill Jines, and Mr. David Phillips.
ITEM NO. 4 - Consider approval of an ordinance approving the 1982-83 Revenue
Sharing and Municipal Budgets.
Following discussion on the above item, Councilman Ware moved that the budget
be approved; Councilman Thompson seconded and motion carried 3-1-1 with Councilman
Pettijohn voting against the motion and Councilman White abstaining from voting.
This ordinance will be Number 270.
ITEM NO. 5 - Consider approval of an ordinance setting the 1982 tax rate.
Following discussion, Councilman Ware moved that this ordinance, Number 271, be
approved; Councilman Thompson seconded and motion carried 4-1 with Councilman
Pettijohn voting against the motion.
ITEM NO. 6 - Executive Session (Closed to the Public)
The ~eeting was then closed for an executive session allowed under Article 6252-17,
Section 2 (g) discussion concerning personnel. Following the executive session,
the meeting was adjourned.
