CM 1994-08-16 MINUTES OF AUGUST 16, 1994 The City Council of the City of Coppell met in Special Called Session on Tuesday, August 16, 1994 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of Town Center, 255 Parkway Boulevard, Coppell, Texas. The following members were present: Tom Morton, Mayor Norm Alexander, Councilmember Flo McFadden Stably, Councilmember Mitch Reitman, Councilmember Lanny Mayo, Councilmember Candy Sheehan, Councilmember Mayor Pro Tem Robertson and Councilmember Watson were absent from the meeting. Also present were City Manager Jim Witt, Acting City Secretary Linda Grau and Katherine Rose from the City Attorney's office. REGULAR SESSION (Open to the Public) 1. Call or Order Mayor Morton called the meeting to order. 2. Canvass the returns of the August 13, 1994 Sales Tax Election, approval of an order declaring the results of the election and authorizing the Mayor to sign. Mayor Morton presented the tally sheets from the election to Katherine Rose from Nichols, Jackson, Dillard, Hager & Smith, who read the canvass of returns for the record as follows: There were a total of 1447 votes cast with 675 votes in favor of the adoption of the additional one-half of one percent sales and use tax; and 772 votes against the adoption of the additional one-half of one percent sales and use tax, resulting in the proposition being disapproved by 97 votes. Councilmember Mayo moved to approve Ordinance No. 94661 canvassing the returns and declaring the results of election on adoption of an additional one-half of one cent sales and use tax for the cost of facilities suitable for projects authorized by Section 4B (a)(2)(A) of Vernon's Ann. Civ. St., Art. 5190.6, The Development Corporation Act of 1979; and establishing an effective date. Councilmember Stahly seconded the motion; the motion carried 5-0 with Councilmembers Alexander, Stahly, Reitman, Mayo, and Sheehan voting in favor of the motion.
