BM 2007-04-19 KCB Keep Coppell Beautiful Minutes of Meeting April 19, 2007 The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on April 19, 2007, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room at the Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were present: Brent Wooten, Chairman, Chris Reed, Vice Chairman, John Dobson, Cheryl Colmery; Joyce Whitbread and Tom Hudon. Student Advisors present: James Halpin, Zach Flores, and Janice Kim. City Liaison Amanda Vanhoozier, Community Programs Supervisor, and Carrie Stevenson, Special Events Coordinator were present. Item 1:Call Meeting to Order ? Brent Wooten, Chairman, called meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. Item 2:Consider Approval of February 15, 2007, Minutes ? Tom Hudon made a motion to approve minutes. John Dobson seconded the motion. Vote: 5-0, approved. Item 3:Citizen’s Forum ? No citizens present. Item 4:Discussion of KCB Booth at Clean Coppell ? The board discussed the set up for the Keep Coppell Beautiful booth along with the schedule for arrival at 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. The booth will consist of a registration area with assignments and directions to the locations, and a supply area with T-shirts, vests, trash bags, and arm bands. ? Brent Wooten, Chris Reed, Tom Hudon, Cheryl Colmery, John Dobson, Cindy Geppert, Joyce Whitbread, James Halpin and Zach Flores will man the booth. Tom Hudon will help with e-cycling also. Item 5:Orientation: Beautification and Water Conservation ? This item was tabled for the May 17 meeting. Item 6:Community Programs Report ? 1 .Coppell Community Garden - Canon USA is doing several projects at Helping Hands on April 21. Plus contributing $1000 worth of plants and materials to the garden. Share the Harvest has begun for this season. ? 2Coppell Farmers Market .- CFM opening day was April 14. The customer appreciation day will be May 12 with a BBQ at the market. ? 3Coppell Community Garden Education .- A booth was held at the YMCA Healthy Kids Fair and will also hold one at Clean Coppell Earthfest focusing on promotion of the Jr. Master Gardener summer classes. ? 4.Master Composters of Coppell - Holding an educational booth at the Clean Coppell Earthfest. Deb Newton-Hair has visited classses at Coppell Middle School and the Coppell High School upon teacher request for composting and worm composting presentations. ? 5.Recycling Promotion in Motion - The trailer has been scheduled for Town Center Elem. Earthfest on April 20 and will be onsite at Clean Coppell and the Water Talks at the CFM. ? 6.School Recycling - CMS West is doing their pilot recycling collection this week. James Halpin reported on the progress of setting up the recycling program at CMS West. A board has been organized with 25-27 students, and four teachers are involved. There are four committees consisting of: Communications, Fundraising, Processes and Status. James has a co-leader working with him. Their next board meeting will be May 17. ? 7.Arbor Day - The Arbor Day Celebration will be at Clean Coppell Earthfest at 11:30am. Presentation of Tree City USA and Arbor Day Poster winner and a planting of the small orchard at the CCG Helping Hands Garden. ? 8.GCAA - The narrative and notebook is due on May 8 to Keep Texas Beautiful.
