The Honorable Candy Sheehan, Mayor

Coppell, Texas 75019
CITY SECRETARY DEPT.
CITY OF COPPELl
August 25, 1998
Dear Madame Mayor:
After much soul searching, my wife and I have decided to make our home in Seattle, Washington. It is
therefore my painful duty to tender my resignation from the office of City Councilmember/Place 2 of the City
of Coppell, State of Texas. I will never be able to adequately express my humble gratitude to the citizens of
Coppell for the trust they have bestowed in me. I have ever sought to repay that trust with dignity and
sincerity in the conduct of my office.
This is not a decision that is arrived at easily, or painlessly. Coppell is home, and in many ways it always
will be. It is in Coppell that Laurel and I began our life together, and where our daughter, Isabel, began her
life. Friends, loved ones, and cherished memories abound and abide here.
I offer my highest commendations to the men and women who comprise the Staff of the City of Coppell.
Their unselfish and honest professionalism has always been an inspiration to me in the performance of my
duties as a Councilmember. The people of Coppell are indeed fortunate to be so ably served.
I tender my friendship and respect to you Mayor Sheehan, and to my fellow Councilmembers. It has been an
honor for me to serve with you, as it was to serve with Mayor Morton and the other former members of this
City Council. Remain steadfast in your commitment to Coppell's future, as you preserve and honor its past.
I pray God's most benevolent blessing upon the citizens of Coppell. I ask the Almighty to preserve and
protect all who devote themselves in service to this City.
Sincerely a Respectfully,
/;W~~1t-
Charles E. Sturges
