RESOL UTION
WHEREAS, Texas International Airlines went on strike December l,
1974; and
WHEREAS, the negotiations were prolonged for lOb days before a
contract was agreed upon; and
WHEREAS, many cities on the Texas International route system have
been without scheduled air service heretofore provided by Texas International
Airlines; and
WHEREAS, during the strike period Texas International received over
$10,000,000 from a Mutual Aid Pact which may have removed the incentive
for the airline to attempt a settlement of the dispute thereby prolonging the
work stoppage; and
WHEREAS, all airlines offering any substantial amount of service
to the Southwest Region are members of the Mutual Aid Pact; and
WHEREAS, lucrative daily payments from the Mutual Aid Pact could
induce an airline to force a labor dispute inconviencing the public, which
airlines are certificated to serve;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City
of Coppell that the delegations to the Congress of the United States be petitioned
to investigate the provisions of the Mutual Aid Pact to ascertain the relationship
