BM 2007-10-18 KCB Keep Coppell Beautiful Minutes of Meeting October 18, 2007 The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on October 18, 2007, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room at the Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were present: Brent Wooten, Chairman, Cheryl Colmery, Tom Hudon, Carole Gayler, and Mary Karish. Student Advisors present: James Halpin and Geetika Rao. City Liaison Amanda Vanhoozier, Community Programs Supervisor, and Phyllis Shepherd, Parks and Recreation Secretary, were present. Item 1: Call Meeting to Order ? Brent Wooten, Chairman, called meeting to order at 7:09 p.m. Item 2: Consider Approval of September 20, 2007, Minutes ? Tom Hudon made a motion to approve minutes. Mary Karish seconded the motion. Vote: 4-0, approved. Item 3: Citizen’s Forum ? No citizens present. Item 4: Welcome and Introduction of New Board Members ? Everyone introduced himself and gave some background history. Item 5: Consider Approval of 07-08 Chair and Co-Chair ? Tom Hudon nominated Brent Wooten as Chairman Cheryl Colmery seconded the motion. Vote: 4-0, approved. ? Tom Hudon nominated Cheryl Colmery as Co-Chairman Carole Gayler seconded the motion. Vote: 5-0, approved Item 6: Consider Approval of 07-08 Meeting Calendar ? Changes to Calendar: December, June and July meetings cancelled; and March meeting moved to March 27. ? Mary Karish made a motion to approve calendar with changes. Carole Gayler seconded the motion. Vote: 5-0, approved Item 7: Orientation for KCB Board—Responsibility, Structure, Affiliations, Programs ? Amanda Vanhoozier presented an overview of KCB activities, affiliations and awards and answered questions. Item 8: Consider Approval of 07-08 Community Improvement Funds to CCG ? Amanda Vanhoozier reviewed the $25,000 Community Improvement Funds used by the Coppell Community Gardens. ? Brent Wooten made a motion to approve the funds and will sign the contract as chairman of Keep Coppell Beautiful. Cheryl Colmery seconded the motion. Vote: 5-0, approved Item 9: Discussion of Adopt a Location Program ? Board members received Adopt a Location assignment sheets, and Amanda Vanhoozier explained the program. ? 2008 Agreements will be sent out in December for renewals. Item 10: Community Programs Report 1. KCB committee NOW FORMING! - Clean Coppell Planning Committee. Need at least one board member. 2. Coppell Community Garden - The CCG Board is working on a new website. www.coppellcommunitygarden.org. The Share the Harvest program has donated over 8000 pounds to date to Metrocrest Social Services and Coppell Senior Center. 3. Coppell Farmers Market - The CFM Committee will be running the market until th November 17. The Old Town Days on October 6 featured 24 CFM vendors. 4. Coppell Oaktober Fest - Special Event Recycling will be rolled out for this large venue. Eighteen Recycling stations will have Clear Stream Recycling receptacles with a sign to attract attention. Volunteers are needed to encourage event goers to use the recycle bins and give out rewards. th 5. Master Composters of Coppell - Master Composter Seminar on Oct. 27-29. Register Now. 972-462-5100. Great way to get involved! th 6. Texas Recycles Day - Nov. 10- Mulch Day, 9am-11am at Freeport and Ruby Rd. and Computer Recycling Collection, 9am-Noon, Town Center parking lot. rd 7. Coppell schools recycling: CMS West started the week of Oct. 9, 2007! Met with the 3 Graders at Mockingbird to talk about their recycling plan. 8. Recycling Promotion in Motion - Trailer will be at the Coppell Oaktober Fest on Oct. ththth 20, Bark in the Park on Oct. 28, and the E-cycling on Nov. 10 and possibly the st Holiday Parade on Dec. 1.
