BM 2007-10-03 EcDev COPPELL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE October 3, 2007 MINUTES The Coppell Economic Development Committee met at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Coppell Town Center, 2nd Floor Conference Room, 255 Parkway Boulevard, Coppell, Texas 75019. The following were present: Bill Rohloff, Gary Roden, Bill Lowery, Bradley Snyder, Kenneth Luttmer, Dornell Reese, Amanda O’Neal, Eric Hansen, Matt Hall, Mary Ciminelli, Scarlett Hovland, Mindi Hurley, Clay Phillips and Councilmember Brianna Hinojosa-Flores. Call to Order 1. Bill Rohloff called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Intorudction of Committee Members 2. Bill Rohloof introduced and welcomed new committee members Dornell Reese, Eric Hansen, and Amanda O’Neal. Nomination and Election of Officers – Chairman and Vice-Chairman 3. ? It was moved by Bill Lowery and seconded by Ken Luttmer that Bill Rohloff serve as Chairman. The motion passed unanimously. ? It was moved by Ken Luttmer and seconded by Brad Snyder that Gary Roden serve as Vice-Chairman. The motion passed unanimously. Nomination and Election of Coppell Economic Development Foundation members. 4. ? Mindi Hurley explained to the committee the duties and responsibilities of the Foundation members. ? The recommendation will be made to the City Council to elect the following committee members to the Foundation: Bill Rohloff, Gary Roden, Bill Lowery, Dornell Reese, and Brad Snyder, Approval of Minutes: September 5, 2007 5. It was noted that the September 5, 2007 minutes be amended to show that Bill Rohloff called the meeting to order. It was moved by Gary Roden and seconded by Kenneth Luttmer that the minutes of the September 5, 2007 meeting be approved. The motion passed unanimously. Review and Update on Current Projects 6. ? Mindi Hurley presented the committee with a notebook binder of information materials regarding the Economic Development Committee responsibilities. ? Mindi reviewed the Strategic Plan, Tax Abatements, Triple Freeport, Old Town Coppell and the Hot Spots information. ? Mindi shared that the committee’s focus will revolve around re-development and retail business and retention. ? Discussion followed. ? Mindi invited that committee to email with any questions or concerns any time. Open Meetings Act Video Explanation. 7. ? Mindi Hurley instructed the new committee members to watch the Open Meeetings Act Video within the next 90 days and to return the certificate to her office after the video has been viewed. General Discussion and Update on Commercial and Industrial Projects 8. ? Mindi Hurley reviewed projects under construction and the business that are now open or will be opening soon. ? Clay Phillips reported on the Coppell 2030 plan and the work being done by the Coppell 2030 Steering Committee. Gary Roden is chair of the 2030 Steering Committee consisting of 29 members. Sub-committees will be forming in the near future. ? Clay Phillips shared information concerning the special election for the Coppell Sales Tax Proposal. ? Mindi Hurley encouraged the committee members to sign up for CoppellClips if they were not already receiving them. With no further business to discuss, it was moved by Kenneth Luttmer and seconded by Bill Lowery that the meeting adjourn.
