Minutes of Meeting
November 15, 2007
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on October 18, 2007, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room at the
Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were present:
Chairman Brent Wooten, Vice Chairman Cheryl Colmery, Carole Gayler, Chris Reed, Angie Huff, and Mary
Karish. Student Advisors present: James Halpin and Geetika Rao. City Liaison Amanda Vanhoozier,
Community Programs Supervisor, and Phyllis Shepherd, Parks and Recreation Secretary, were present.
Item 1: Call Meeting to Order

Brent Wooten, Chairman, called meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
Item 2: Consider Approval of October 18, 2007, Minutes
?
Minutes approved 5-0.
Item 3: Citizen’s Forum
?
No citizens present.
Item 4: Discussion and Consider Approval of Adopt a Location Guidelines
?
Adopt a Location agreements will be sent out in late December with a return deadline
of February 15.
?
Suggested guidelines changes for new groups:
No sign will be posted until two reported cleanups have been done.
Propose a minimum of four cleanups per calendar year.
A report is necessary either to the office or to the board member. Email OK.
?
Cheryl Colmery made a motion to approve changes.
Angie Huff seconded the motion.
Vote: 6-0, approved.
Item 5: Discussion of Community Visibility: Holiday Parade, E-cycling and Chamber of
Commerce
?
KCB will participate in the holiday parade on Saturday, December 1, 4 p.m., with the
truck and trailer.
?
The next KCB E-cycling will be Saturday, January 5, 2008, 9-noon, at Town Center.
?
Mary Karish will contact the Coppell Chamber of Commerce regarding a KCB
display table at the next gala event, March 1, 2008.
Item 6: Discussion of KCB and Sustainable Practices
?
KCB approved a plan of action for sustainable practices in May 2007. Copy of the
plan is attached. These practices will be reported for the Governor’s Community
Achievement Award in February 2008 as in past years.

The city is also working on an environmental management system, and the Coppell
schools have green teams.
Item 7: Community Programs Report
?
1. City of Coppell Job Posted Nov. 9: Community Programs Coordinator will be
working with the Keep Coppell Beautiful Board and programs.
?
Clean Coppell Earthfest Committee
2. forming in Dec. This is a subcommittee of
KCB and needs a representative from the KCB Board. Other representation include
Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Schools, Businesses, CCG, Master Composters, and
community.

Coppell Community Garden
3.- The CCG Board will be voting on the 2008 slate
of officers and director at the Dec. meeting. The organization has just started a
website, www.coppellcommunitygarden.org

Coppell Farmers Market
4.- The last market will be held on November 17
starting at 8am until sell out. This was the most successful year with the number of
vendors doubled at times this year over 2006. CFM will start their sixth year in
spring 2008.

. Master Composters of Coppell
5- Master Composter Seminar on Oct. 25-27 was
cancelled due to low registration. First time in 14 classes to cancel.

Texas Recycles Day
6.- Nov. 10 Mulch Day was successful with 110 cars coming
through to get mulch. The Computer Recycling Collection brought in 161 cars, down
100 from last fall. ARC International will produce a certificate of destruction with the
tonnage in a few weeks.

Recycling Promotion Trailer
7.was at the Old Town Fall Festival, Coppell
Oaktober Fest, Bark in the Park, and the Computer Recycling where the special
events recycling receptacles were used.
