ORDINANCE NO. 94659
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, BY AMENDING SECTION 9-
12-4F TO REQUIRE SERVICE FEES FOR FALSE ALARMS TO BE PAID WITHIN
FIFTEEN (15) DAYS; BY AMENDING SECTION 9-12-2 TO ADD SUBSECTION H TO
PROHIBIT THE OPERATION OF AN ALARM SYSTEM IF THE PERMIT HAS BEEN
SUSPENDED OR REVOKED; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING A
REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING A
PENALTY OF FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF FIVE HUNDRED ($500.00)
DOLLARS FOR EACH OFFENSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL~ TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Coppall, Texas, be,
and the same is hereby, amended by amending Section 9-12-4F in part to read as
follows:
"F. A permit holder must pay any service fee assessed under the provisions of
this section within fifteen (15) days after receipt of notice of assessment by
the Director."
SECTION 2. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Coppall, Texas, be,
and the same is hereby, amended by amending Section 9-12-2 in part to add subsection
H to read as follows:
"H. A person commits an offense if he operates or causes to be operated an
alarm system if the permit for the alarm system has been suspended or
revoked by the City."
SECTION 3. That all provisions of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Coppall, Texas in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be, and the same are
hereby, repealed, and all other provisions not in conflict with the provisions of this
ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.

SECTION 4. That should any word, phrase, paragraph, section or portion
of this ordinance or of the Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, be held to be invalid,
void or unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of
said ordinance or of the Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, which shall remain in
full force and effect.
SECTION 5. An offense committed before the effective date of this
ordinance is governed by the prior law and the provisions of the Code of Ordinances, as
amended in effect when the offense was committed and the former law is continued in
effect for this purpose.
SECTION 6. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions
of this ordinance or the Code of Ordinances of the City of Coppell, Texas, as amended
hereby, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction in the municipal
court of the City of Coppell, Texas, shall be subject to a fine not to exceed the sum of
Five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars for each offense, and each and every day such offense
shall continue shall be deemed to constitute a separate offense.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and
the publication of the caption as the law and charter in such cases provide.
