Minutes of Meeting
April 17, 2008
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on April 17, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room at the
Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were present:
Chairman Brent Wooten, Vice Chairman Cheryl Colmery, Carole Gayler, Tom Hudon, and Angie Huff.
Student Advisors present: James Halpin and Geetika Rao. City Liaison Amanda Vanhoozier, Community
Programs Supervisor, and Phyllis Shepherd, Parks and Recreation Secretary, were present.
Item 1: Call Meeting to Order

Brent Wooten called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.
Item 2: Consider Approval of March 27, 2008, Minutes

Minutes approved 5-0.
Item 3: Citizen’s Forum

No citizens present
Item 4: Discussion on the Review of the Clean Coppell Earthfest
?
Discussion included ideas for the next Earthfest:

Assignment areas designated better and have a point person in park locations.
?
Pick up in the morning with Earthfest in the TC Plaza in afternoon, evening or
another Saturday
?
Captains with phones
?
Work with HOAs to clean up neighborhoods
?
Bridge under Parkway Blvd. at high school is dirty with trash. City, HOA or Boy
Scouts need to take on as a project. Lights with sensors need to be installed for
safety and deterrent to teenage activities.

Cottonwood Creek Elementary School won the Litter Gitter contest.
Item 5: Discussion of KCB Mission Statement

A revision of the mission statement was approved to reflect an inclusive

Item 6: Discussion of Letter to CISD New Tech Recycling

James Halpin read the letter and will email a copy to each board member to consider
approval at the next meeting.
Item 7: Discussion of KCB Criteria for Green Businesses

Item 8: Community Programs Report

TXDOT Landscape
- Drawing is drafted.

Residential Waste and Recycling
scheduled on the City Council work session next
week.

Time Capsule for TC Plaza -
KCB will place an item in the time capsule to be
opened in 50 years.
?
Coppell Community Garden
- 2008 Share the Harvest donated to date 750 lbs. to
Metrocrest Social Services food pantry. Over 80 volunteers growing produce and
maintaining Texas SmartScape gardens, fruit orchard, and composting system.

Coppell Farmers Market
- Opening Day of the CFM was 4/12/08. Over 30 vendors
and a packed parking lot.

Coppell Community Garden Education
- The Educational calendar is available on
the new website www.coppellcommunitygarden.org. This Saturday is Answers to
Your Landscape Woes Class, 1-4pm at the Coppell Aquatic and Recreation Center.

Greenstorming Group
at the Coppell Chamber of Commerce still wants to have
help with business recycling. They meet the first Friday of each month at noon at the
Chamber, and KCB Board is invited.
