MEMORANDUM
TO: Library Advisory Board
FROM: Kathleen P. Metz Edwards, Library Director
DATE: April 4, 2008
SUBJECT: April's Director's Report for Library Advisory Board
Workload Indicators. In March, circulation was up 2% and overall fiscal year to date, is up
2/1 Oths of a percent in spite of the 4000 users who were removed from the patron data base in
October 1,2007. Gate count shows a -2% for March, but when averaged with the 15% for
February, is up 5.75% for the two months and 2.5% fiscal year to date. DVD circulation will
continue to decline not only because we have removed the non-resident borrowers who were big
DVD users, but also due to the migration of media to the Blu-Ray format. We are watching that
transition but have not ordered any Blu-Ray movies at this time.
Program attendance is up 13% for March and 1.5% fiscal year to date. InternetlWiFi use
continues to trend down which we anticipated when we implemented the new borrowing
structure in October.
Loan Star Libraries SFY 07/08: We are still awaiting the display cubes.
Registration for TLA: If any of you have had a change in your schedule and wish to view the
exhibits at the Texas Library Association, you can simply go to the Dallas Convention Center
during the day on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 through noon on Friday, April 18, 2008. Ingram
has provided us with exhibits pass coupons, exhibits only registrants can present the coupon with
their registration and not be required to pay any fees. Passes are available at the Library NOT
the convention center.
E-resources for Students: Staff will highlight the E-resources for students in a real-time
demonstration.
Comments and Suggestions:
