Item 1.Call to Order.
Secretary Gina Mote called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.
Item 2. Approval of Minutes: December 12, 2008.
April Terry made a motion to approve the minutes, and Thomas Massimi seconded. The vote was
unanimous.
Item 3. Citizens’ Appearance.
No citizens appeared.
Item 4. Review and potential approval of a grant application from the Coppell
Independent School District for technology in the amount of $45,000.
A motion to approve the grant application was made by April Terry and seconded by Marilyn Kilber.
Irma Kennedy and Donna Carpenter described the program that this grant would support, and
answered questions from the Board. Secretary Mote called for a vote, and the motion passed
unanimously.
Item 5. Extension of Sales Tax.
A letter from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts was distributed, along with an updated list of
funds available. City Manager Jim Witt explained that the City was shocked to learn that sales tax for
579A had to be collected for the first quarter of 2008 instead of ending December 31, 2007. The new
estimated funds available exceed $8.7 million. Jim suggested that letters be written to the school
districts involved offering approval of multi-year funding for grants submitted. He will compile a draft
letter and forward it to the Board for approval.
