Minutes of Meeting
November 20, 2008
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on November 20, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room at
the Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were
present: Chairman Brent Wooten, Tom Hudon, Craig Pritzlaff, Brandi Todd, Shannon Olmstead, Carole
Gayler and Paul Chung, Student Advisor. City Liaisons Cristal Rollins, Community Programs Coordinator,
Amanda Vanhoozier, Community Programs Supervisor, and Phyllis Shepherd, Parks and Recreation
Secretary, were present.
Item 1: Call Meeting to Order

Brent Wooten called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Item 2: Consider Approval of October 17, 2008, Minutes
?
Minutes approved 6-0.
Item 3: Citizen’s Forum
?
Ron Corron, 416 Kaye, Coppell, addressed the board regarding trash coming from
the new cemetery construction site.
?
Patricia Morman, 211 Cove Drive, Coppell, observed the meeting.
Item 4: Consider Approval of 08-09 KCB Meeting Calendar
?
The board voted to cancel the December 2008 meeting and delay until April on whether
to cancel the June and July meetings.
Item 5: Discussion and Consider Approval of Green Business Program
?
Brandi Todd and Craig Pritzlaff presented a PowerPoint overview of their ideas for the
Coppell Green Business Program which will be in partnership with the Coppell Chamber
of Commerce.
?
The board would like to include churches and schools with businesses in this emphasis on
environmental friendliness in Coppell.
?
A name for the program along with a logo will be selected and approved before the
kickoff on Earth Day.
Item 6:Discussion and Consider Approval of Holiday Lighted Parade Entry

The board decided to participate in the parade by pushing lighted 65-gallon recycling
carts in a train formation to promote the upcoming Waste Management recycling
program.

The board will meet at the old Food Lion parking lot at 5:45 p.m., Saturday, December 6.
Item 7: Discussion of Adopt-A-Locations
?
Board members will continue contacting their groups, and Cristal Rollins will send out
letters reminding them to report their pick ups.

Item 8: Community Programs Report
?
1.
Coppell Community Garden
- Share the Harvest donated over 12,000 pounds to
date. This is the highest yield since the gardens were started in 1998. The Board is
closing out their fiscal year and accepted the community improvement funds for 09.

2. Coppell Farmers Market
- Last day of the season is this Saturday, Nov. 22, 8 am
until sellout. The CFM will reopen in April 2009. There are two additional produce
farmers that want to sell next year.

3. Texas Recycles Day, E-Cycling,
was held on Saturday morning at Town Center.
Approximately 175 cars came through with items. We collected 12,594 lbs of electronic
equipment; 42 cell phones were collected and have been sent to Ecophones who will send

KCB a check. The next collection will be Saturday, January 3 from 9 am - noon at
Town Center. We will need volunteers!

4. TXDOT Landscape -
The TXDOT Landscape architect is drawing up new plans for
Freeport and 635 on the northwest corner that will include a large tree area. Spoke with
him this morning and his engineer on the project is close to finished, but is waiting on an
additional piece and will then be able to complete his portion.

5. Greenstorming Group
meets at the Chamber of Commerce first Friday of the month
at noon, focusing on business recycling. Members will bring with them the names of
potential “Green Businesses” to the meeting on Dec. 5. Chamber and North Lake College
were very interested in being in the first group of business to participate.

6. Going paperless?
We are considering going paperless for these meetings, by e-
mailing the agenda, etc., to each board member ahead of time and having items displayed
on the projector screen. Board members can opt to print the documents if they choose.
This would begin for January’s meeting.

7. Movie Night –
There will be a movie night on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. at Town
Center Plaza. Admission is free. The movie will be “The Polar Express.” Bring your
blankets and sodas, popcorn will be provided.

8. Holiday Parade and Celebration –
Saturday, December 6, at 6:30 p.m.Parade at the
intersection of Parkway and Town Center. Kids will be given glow sticks. Celebration
will be from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Town Center Plaza. Snow-sledding hill, photos with
Santa, refreshments, tree lighting, performances and free funnel cakes!
