AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS,
AMENDING ORDINANCE 92-554 AND SECTIONS 15-7-1 AND 13-7-2 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY ADOPTING STANDARD
CONSTRUCTION DETAILS FOR REGULATING THE CONSTRUCTION
OF HIKE AND BIKE TRAILS WITHIN THE CITY OF COPPELL,
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ON-STREET AND OFF-STREET
DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION, SIGNAGE AND STREET CROSSINGS;
PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF THIS
ORDINANCE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF FIVE HUNDRED
DOLLARS ($500.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE, [EXCEPT THAT WHERE A
DIFFERENT PENALTY HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED BY STATE LAW FOR
SUCH OFFENSE, THE PENALTY SHALL BE THAT FIXED BY STATE
LAW, AND FOR ANY OFFENSE WHICH IS A VIOLATION OF ANY
PROVISION THAT GOVERNS FIRE SAFETY, ZONING, PUBLIC HEALTH
OR SANITATION OR THE DUMPING OF REFUSE OR JUNK THE
PENALTY SHALL BE A FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($2,000.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF COPPELL, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That Ordinance No. 92-554 of the City of Coppell, Texas be, and the
same is hereby, amended by adding Sheet SD25 to the City of Coppell Standard
Construction Details, Revised December 1991, as the standard construction details for
regulating hike and bike trails within the City of Coppell, including but not limited to on-
street and off-street design and construction, signage and street crossing.
SECTION 2: That Section 15-7-1 and Section 15-7-2 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Coppell, Texas, be and the same are hereby amended, in part, to read as follows:

"Sec. 15-7-1 COPPELL STANDARD CONSTRUCTION DETAILS CODE -
ADOPTED
That certain Ordinance 92-554 and attachments thereto, a copy of
which is on file in the office of the City Secretary, being marked and
designated as "Coppell Standard Construction Details", as may be
amended by ordinance from time to time, is hereby designated as a
Special Code of the City of Coppell, Texas.
Sec. 15-7-2 MAINTAINED AS SEPARATE CODE
The Coppell Standard Construction Details Code of the City of
Coppell adopted by Ordinance 92-554, and as amended, shall, because
of its size, be maintained in the office of the City Secretary as a
separate "Special Code" apart from this General Code."
SECTION 3: Failure to comply with the standards of construction adopted by this
ordinance for infrastructure construction shall be unlawful and a violation of this ordinance.
SECTION 4: That all provisions of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Coppell,
Texas, in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance be, and the same are hereby,
repealed, and all other provisions not in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance shall
remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 5: That should any word, phrase, paragraph, section or portion of this
ordinance or of the Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, be held to be void or
unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of said
ordinance or of the Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, which shall remain in full
force and effect.
SECTION 6. That any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions or
terms of this ordinance or of the Code of Ordinances, as amended hereby, shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor and upon conviction in the Municipal Court of the City of Coppell, Texas,

shall be subject to a fine not to exceed the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) Dollars
for each offense, except where a different penalty has been established by state law the
penalty shall be that fixed by state law, and for any offense which is a violation of any
provisions that governs fire safety, zoning, public health and sanitation or the dumping of
refuse or junk, the penalty shall be a fine not to exceed the sum of Two Thousand Dollars
($2,000.00) for each offense, and each and every day such offense is continued shall
constitute a new and separate offense.
SECTION 7: That this ordinance shall become effective from and after its passage
and the publication of the caption, as the law and charter in such cases provide.
