BM 2009-05-21 KCB Keep Coppell Beautiful Minutes of Meeting May 21, 2009 The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on May 21, 2009, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room at the Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were present: Chairman Brent Wooten, Shannon Olmstead, Carole Gayler, Craig Pritzlaff, Tom Hudon, and James Halpin, Student Advisor. City Liaison Cristal Rollins, Community Programs Coordinator, and Phyllis Shepherd, Parks and Recreation Secretary, were present. Item 1: Call Meeting to Order ? Brent Wooten called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. Item 2: Consider Approval of April 16, 2009, Minutes ? Minutes approved 5-0. Item 3: Citizen’s Forum ? No citizens present. Item 4: Discussion of Adopt-a-Locations ? Cristal Rollins reported 51 groups are signed up with three new groups: 807, New Tech High, and Delta Sigma Theta Alumni Dallas Chapter. Starbucks and Access expressed some interest. ? The board set May 30, 2009, at 7:30 a.m., as a makeup date for pick up due to rain out on May 16, 2009. Item 5: Discussion of Green Team ? Cristal Rollins reported that the program is ready to go. Cone Elevator has signed up. Articles will appear in the Gazette on May 6 and in the Advocate on May 15. ? Cristal Rollins will speak at the June Chamber of Commerce luncheon and distribute literature. th Item 6: Discussion and Approval of July 4 Activities ? The board voted to participate in the parade if there are three members who confirm by June 12 to Cristal Rollins’ email request. Item 7: Discussion of KCB Youth Advisor Interviews ? Shannon Olmstead, Tom Hudon and Craig Pritzlaff will conduct the interviews beginning at 5:30 on August 20, 2009, and make two recommendations to the board at the scheduled meeting that evening. Item 8: Community Programs Report (written) ? 1. Recycling Carts – GOALS: 65% participation rate and 19% diversion rate. We will be recognized during the KTB Conference on June 11. ? nd 3. Keep Texas Beautiful Awards – The City of Coppell won 2 place in the government/city program category for the ecoCoppell initiative, and the Coppell nd Community Garden won 2 place in the civic organization project/program category. Awards will be given out during the KTB conference on June 11. ? 4. Coppell Community Garden – reached 100,000 pounds of produce grown and donated. Awarding their annual scholarship at CFM Customer Appreciation Day on May 30 ? 5. Coppell Farmers Market – Customer Appreciation Day – May 30, Summer Celebration – July 25, Fall Festival – October 10 ? 6. TXDOT Landscape – Plans should be finalized by the end of the month, construction bids open in August and construction should start in late September. ? rdth 7. Upcoming Events – July 3 – 7:00-10:00 p.m. – 4 of July event and fireworks th at Andrew Brown East. July 4 – 10:00 a.m. - parade New Business to be placed on next meeting agenda: ?
