Minutes of Meeting
September 19, 2009
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on September 19, 2009, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room at
the Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were
present: Co-Chairman Tom Hudon, Shannon Olmstead, Carole Gayler, Craig Pritzlaff,, Brandi Todd and
Paul Chung, Student Advisor. City Liaison Cristal Rollins, Community Programs Coordinator, and Phyllis
Shepherd, Parks and Recreation Secretary, were present.
Item 1: Call Meeting to Order

Tom Hudon called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m.
Item 2: Consider Approval of August 20, 2009, Minutes
?
Minutes approved 5-0.
Item 3: Citizens’ Forum
?
No citizens present.l
Item 4: Demonstration of city’s online service request system
?
Crystal Rollins demonstrating using the city website service request option to report
any problems noticed in the city.
?
Carole Gayler will email all homeowner associations with this information.
Item 5: Update on Adopt-a-Location Program
?
Delinquent groups were contacted and have reported their clean-ups.
?
It was suggested that a map of Coppell be created with the adopted areas highlighted
and locations be reassigned to the board members for their convenience in tracking
them.
Item 6: Recognition of KCB Board Members Term End
?
The board thanked Tom Hudon, Vice Chair, and Paul Chang, Youth Advisor, for
their service to Keep Coppell Beautiful
Item 7: Community Programs Report (written)
?
1. Recycling Carts
– GOALS: 65% participation rate and 19% diversion rate.
AUGUST 09 AVERAGES
62% PR 63% PR since carts arrive
16.56% DR 15.26% DR since carts arrive
first place
City wins in North Texas Corporate Recyclers Association Green
Awards for “Incredibly Effective Education Technique” category for Make Your
Cart Count campaign.

2. Coppell Community Garden
– upcoming classes: Fall Planting 101 – Sunday,
September 20; Perennials in the Butterfly Garden – Saturday, September 26;
Growing Citrus in N. Texas – Saturday, October 3. Full list of classes on CCG
website calendar.

3. Coppell Farmers Market
– Fall Festival – October 10, closes November 21.

Master Composter Seminar –
Part 1: Saturday, October 24 – 8-4 and Part 2:
Saturday, October 31 – 8-4. Minimum of 8 people required or class will be canceled.

5. TXDOT Landscape
– Construction should start in late September.
?
6. Upcoming Events
– Wildflower Seeding – Saturday, October 18 - 9:00 a.m. at
Moore Road Park; Oak Fest – Saturday, October 18 – 5:00-10:00 p.m. at AB East.
