Minutes of Meeting
October 15, 2009
The Keep Coppell Beautiful Board met on October 15, 2009, at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room at the
Coppell Service Center, 816 South Coppell Rd., Coppell, Texas. The following members were present:
Craig Pritzlaff,, Shannon Olmstead, David Caviness, Charles Dart, Samuel Duff, Brandi Todd, and Student
Advisors Geetika Rao and Elizabeth Meyer. City Liaison Cristal Rollins, Community Programs Coordinator,
and Phyllis Shepherd, Parks and Recreation Secretary, were present.
Item 1: Call Meeting to Order

Cristal Rollins called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
Item 2: Consider Approval of 2009-10 Chair and Vice Chair
?
Motion was made and carried electing Craig Pritzlaff as Chair.
?
Motion was made and carried electing Shannon Olmstead as Vice Chair.
?
Craig Pritzlaff took over as chairman to continue the meeting, and introductions were
made for benefit of new board members.
Item 3: Consider Approval of September 19, 2009, Minutes
?
Motion was made and carried approving the September 19, 2009 minutes.
Item 4: Citizens’ Forum
?
No citizens present.
Item 5: Consider Approval of 09-10 Community Improvement Funds Agreement with CCG
?
Cindy Geppert with the CCG presented a report on the community gardens and how
the $25,000 funds are used. The gardens were started in 1998 by Amanda Vanhoozier
Last year 13,000 pounds of produce and so far this year 15,000 pounds have been
donated to Metrocrest Food Bank. There are 70 volunteer gardeners who put in 6,000
hours a year, and youth who work 500 hours a year. Education is a big component
with: group tours, Master Composter classes and the Wildflower Seedings. Coppell
Farmers’ Market is a part of the Coppell Community Gardens.

Motion was made and carried giving CCG the $25,000 funds.
Item 6: Discussion of Upcoming Meetings
?
Motion was made and carried canceling the December 2009 meeting.
Item 7: Discussion of Adopt-a-Location Program
?
Cristal Rollins described the program for new board members and gave everyone a
map with seven sections highlighted.
?
Members chose their sections: 1- Carole Gayler, 2- Shannon Olmstead, 3- Sam Duff,
4- David Caviness, 5- Craig Pritzlaff, 6- Brandi Todd, 7- Chuck Dart.

The KCB pick up date is Saturday, November 21, 8:00 a.m. Shannon Olmstead will
send out an Evite by email, pick up equipment from Cristal Rollins and provide
donuts.
Item 8: Discussion of Green Team Program
?
Cristal Rollins reviewed the program for new board members.
?
More green teams are needed in the program.
?
Need to increase the recognition awards.
Item 9: Discussion of Holiday Parade
?
Motion was made and carried tabling the discussion until the November meeting.
Item 10: Community Programs Report
?
1. E-Cycling Collection –
Saturday, November 14, from 9:00 to noon at Town
Center. Fees: $12 for TVs, $7 for monitors, all other items free.
?
2. Coppell Community Garden
– Trees – October 17, Perennials for the Water
Wise Garden – November 7, Rain Barrels – November 14. Full list of classes on
CCG website calendar.
?
3. Coppell Farmers Market
– closes November 21.
?
4. Master Composter Seminar –
Part 1: Saturday, October 24, 8-4 and Part 2:
Saturday, October 31, 8-4. Minimum of 8 people required or class will be canceled –
registration deadline is this Monday.

5. TXDOT Landscape Project
– Construction should begin this week (weather-
permitting). TxDOT has 48 days to complete the project once construction begins.

6. Upcoming Events
– Wildflower Seeding – Saturday, October 17, 9:00 a.m. at
Moore Road Park; Oak Fest – Saturday, October 17, 5:00-10:00 p.m. at AB East
