LISD 2009/11/09November 9, 2009 Dr. Jerry Roy Superintendent of Schools Lewisville ISD P. O.Box217 Lewisville, Texas 75067 RE: Coppell Education Development Corporation Dear Dr. Roy: Effective April 2008 the city of Coppell discontinued the collection of the half -cent sales tax for education. Therefore, to assist the school districts in the distribution of fund balances, the Coppell Education Development Corporation has authorized adjusting two significant changes to the grant allocation process. Multi year grants will now be considered. Secondly, the threshold under which staff is authorized to distribute remaining funds without the need for a new grant submission has been raised from $1,000 to $10,000, provided the funds are applied to a previously approved grant for a qualifying use. In both cases, the financial reporting requirements continue until the Coppell Education Development Corporation is provided with receipts for all associated expenditures. As of September 30, 2009 the Lewisville Independent School District shows a budgeted allocation plus carryover of $3,381.70. We are requesting that your school district submit a request for this remaining funding, including any interest that might have accrued. Please indicate how you intend to apply the funding to a previously authorized grant qualifying use. As stated above, you will be required to provide the Finance Department with documentation accounting for the expenditure of the fund balance until all funds have been expended. Following this process will allow the Coppell Education Development Corporation to sunset as all funding will have been expended. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 972 - 304 -3618.
