Miscellaneous correspondenceApril 2, 2002
Dear Council Members:
Before your meeting tonight, I wanted to send each of you this brief note to relate to you
my experience on the CEDC as we approved the first round of grants recently. As you
can see from the information you have before you, we were able to fund grants in
literacy, foreign language and technology to the CISD that totaled about $1.4 million.
The process was somewhat arduous in that we not only were working with wet cement,
we didn't even have any forms in which to pour. This is to say we started entirely from
scratch, well aware that other cities around the state were closely watching. We feel that
we came up with a good document (although the CISD may disagree!) and that it served
us well.
The bottom line to date is this: Hundreds of students now have programs that they
otherwise would not have had, all due to the foresight of you and our City Manager, Jim
Witt and the majority of voters in Coppell. It was a rare win/win situation and I was
honored to have been a part of it. Thank you for allowing me to serve on this board.
What a great place to live!
Best regards,
Ann Golding
