OR 93-630 Structures to be equipped with automatic fire extinguishing system AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO. 93630 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE 91524 BY AMENDING SUBSECTION B. 10.507 (A) GENERAL, OF SECTION 3. SPECIFIC AMENDMENTS TO UNIFORM FIRE CODE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING A PENALTY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City of Coppell to insure that its citizens are adequately protected from conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosion in the City of Coppell, Texas; and WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City of Coppell that Subsection B. 10.507 (a) General of Section 3. SPECIFIC AMENDMENTS TO UNIFORM FIRE CODE, does not adequately protect its citizens; NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COPPELL, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Subsection B. Section 10.507 (a) under Section 3. SPECIFIC AMENDMENTS TO 1991 UNIFORM FIRE CODE, as adopted by Ordinance No. 91-524, be amended in part to read as follows: "B. Section 10.507 (a) General. An automatic fire-extinguishing system shall be installed in the occupancies and locations as set forth in this section. Regardless of any occupancy, any building or structure three (3) stories or more in height, or any structure with a gross square footage greater than 10,000 square feet shall be equipped with an automatic fire extinguishing system." SECTION 2. That this ordinance shall not have the effect of amending any other provision of Ordinance 91-524, except as provided above. SECTION 3. All parts of ordinances inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. If any article, paragraph or subdivision, clause or provision of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or held unconstitutional, the same shall not affect the validity of this ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof, other than the part so decided to be invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 5. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction shall be punished by a penalty of fine not to exceed the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) for each offense and each and every day such offense is continued shall constitute a new and separate offense. SECTION 6. That this Ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage and publication of the caption as the law and charter in such cases provide.
