The following board members were present: Iten 1: Call to Order t William A . Rohloff called the meet ins to order. A quorum w4s present. The Council acted on the exemption in response to a ponding decision by MJDesigna to -relocate their offices and warehouse to Coppell. That exemption will coati Coppell about * 70.000 in taxes, but the Ferre aence of the company in Coppe l l will generate about $ 100,000 in other corporate taxes plus $ 125,000 in development rollback taxes, within the first year. Items S: Coppell International Music Exchange= Follo p: Wi l l iaom Rohlof f reported to the Board that the recent Music Exchange involving several German music students and several Coppell studente was a big succese. Many Coppell residenta and businesses, got involved and the two-week event received good -press coverage. The Board received public ack:nowledgenent for its funding support. item : Reception for Developers & Real Hetet* Hro%era; Don Keach reported to the Board that detailed dark -for this event is pr-ogressina with assistance frog ,ftaina Johnson, Bronwyn Brock* Ed Spalding and John Mark Hornnot . They are working on a gaze theme for the reception and working with the utility comps 199 and several business leaders. The Invitation list will likely number 500, with about 300-350 expected to attend. No budgetary expense figure has been identified for this event yet, but Mr Keach plans to have an eatime:te by the next Board meeting. Review Final Copy Coppe l l Broohuro+ Kay Tiller presented a revised draft of the proposed brochure for comment and approval. There were some add 1 t i on.al editorial changen requested ■ but in general.,the Beard expressed ita satisfaction with 'the copy. Ujpon motion by Don Keach and second by Ed Spaldtpg, the Board authorized Bronwyn Brack and William Rohlof f to finalize copy with Ms Tiller and get brochure off to printer to which contract bid is awarded_ Items► : Review and Di,souseion of media Relations Report and Approval of Monthly Billing - Kay Tiller: Kay Tiller presented her report for July, which primarily ly i.nc luded work on they city brochure and coverage of the Coppell International music Exchange. No Brack made a motion to accept He Tiller's report and approve payment of her billing statement, aces g50 in mince l laneous expenses which were identified as an estimate and had no accompanying documentation. The motion was aeoonded by Mr Keach and approved by the Board. ` Itom 9: Discussion and Consideration of Approving Advertisement in Harte-Hanke Publication-, 14r Rohloff reviewed for the Board the propgood economic deve1opent ad to be run to a wpeclgi supplement of all area Hart*-Hanko ouburban newapapers . The ad copy was created through. combined effort of Juhn Mark BGnnot and staff representative at the Coppell Gazette. It will appear in all area P+Lpers and several thousand copies will be delivered to the Coppell Chamber to use in development activities. It lacks adequate volunteer manpower to drive the project. b) The Board waw reminded of the Boards and Commiaeions Reception on Monday, AuXuat 23 at Spay in Town Center. c) The Board was informed that audio oopiea of the saonami c development presentations to the City Counc i 1 by Andy Brown aund Carlton Schwabb are available for Board members to bora. The tape can be obtained through Kathleen Roach, Secretary to the City Manager. Bath preeentations were good and informative. d) Mr Kent Moore announced to the Hoard hie startup of an area newspaper entitled the North Texas C-o=nuni.ty Journal, with part of th&t publicati*a devoted to the activities of the various City Boards. The intent is to build community i nt*reat in those activitioe and not to tate any political or editorial stance.
